"Be the change that you want to see in the world." – Mohandas 'Mahatma' Gandhi
This fortnight in the Junior School, our focus will be on reinforcing our School-Wide Behaviour Expectation of Responsibility. Responsibility encompasses a range of
behaviours, from being accountable as individuals to acting thoughtfully within the school community. Specifically, we will encourage our Junior School students to reflect on how
they can take responsibility for their school environment.
During last week's Monday lineup, we were joined by our Sustainability Officer, Mrs
Walter, and our Prefect for Sustainability, Kate Hynes (Year 12). They shared important insights with our students on how to properly dispose of rubbish and recyclables. Additionally, they introduced an exciting new initiative: recycling soft plastics.
We are committed to empowering our students to take responsibility for maintaining a sustainable school environment through these practices. To support this effort, we kindly ask families to consider packing nude lunch boxes as much as possible. This small change can make a significant impact in reducing our school’s overall waste footprint.
Thank you for your ongoing support in fostering responsibility and sustainability at our school.

Year 1 STEM Challenge
Our Year 1 students had a wonderful time participating in a STEM challenge to build homes for our Penguin and Echidna cup friends. We loved having our Year 5 Sassafras buddies visit to help us construct our recycled material masterpieces!
Year 5 visit to Bonorong
The Year 5 students recently visited Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for their Science unit on animal adaptations. We had an incredible day learning about the park's work with rescue animals and how Tasmanian animals have adapted to their unique environment.
A highlight for the students was meeting some of the sanctuary's beloved residents, including Dewey the wombat, Christopher the Tasmanian Devil and Lucy the Goose. A big thank you to the staff at Bonorong for sharing their expertise and guiding us through a wonderful excursion.
Lantern Lunches
Monday marked the return of our Lantern Lunches program for 2025. Hungry students from Prep Bandicoots and Year 3 Bottlebrush gathered with their teachers at the Murphy's Café outdoor dining space where they enjoyed a delicious meal of tomato and meatball pasta, made with fresh vegetables from our school kitchen garden, along with garlic bread, and fruit for dessert.
I was fortunate to join the students for lunch, and it was lovely to see conversations flowing between the year levels and many new friendships forming. Thank you to Murphy's Café for the opportunity to dine together and our Year 3 students who led us in saying grace.
