Principal`s Message

We are all different, which is great because we are all unique. Without diversity, life would be very boring." – Catherine Pulsifer

This week has been a whirlwind of activities and celebrations at Fitzroy Primary School! The students kicked off with Francophonie Week, immersing ourselves in the rich culture and language of the French-speaking world. On Tuesday, Danielle, Nick, and I were honoured guests of the French Consul General to Melbourne, Madame Paule, to celebrate the start of Francophonie Week. The event, held at Auburn High School, brought together over 60 educators from Camberwell, Caulfield Junior College and Auburn High School, along with French teachers from across the state.

We also celebrated Harmony Day, a special occasion dedicated to promoting inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone. This year's theme, "Everyone Belongs," perfectly encapsulates the spirit of our school community. It has been wonderful speaking with students and learning more about their diverse backgrounds. Fitzroy truly is a melting pot of multiculturalism, and it's heartwarming to see how our students embrace and celebrate each other's cultures.

Additionally, we would like to remind all families to join us for our Annual Iftar Dinner on Thursday, 27th March from 7:00 PM. The Iftar dinner is a significant event during Ramadan, where the community comes together to break the fast after sunset. It represents unity, reflection, and the importance of sharing and caring for one another. We look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you all.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students who have been completing the NAPLAN tests over the last two weeks. The technology worked well (always a big relief!) and our students were focused as they completed the four tests. Thank you to the teachers involved for their support.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports

At Fitzroy Primary School we are embracing the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework and as part of this, we are celebrating the behaviours that make our school a great place to be. Parents/Carers will notice ‘Green’ chronicle entries on your child’s Compass profile throughout the year and below is a descriptor of each category.

Thank you to all the students, teachers, and parents who made this week so memorable. Let's continue to celebrate our diversity and the unique contributions each of us brings to our school community.
