MaST Project

Stage 1 Data Collection and Organisation - Stage 1 using all types of equipment to represent their data collection!

Across our classrooms, we engage at the beginning of each Math lesson in a process of “Retrieval Practice”. During these warm-up sessions of Retrieval Practice, we are given several questions or problems that require our brains to think about previous lessons and content taught.

Stage 2 was doing a great job of solving their partitioning questions and equivalent number sentences.

Term 2 Week 6-8 Learning!

Around the classrooms for the next couple of weeks, we are learning:

Early Stage 1

Week 6 - Two-dimensional Spatial Structure - Area

Students are describing and comparing areas of similar shapes

Week 7- 8

Combining and Separating Quantities - Addition

Students will be identifying situations where addition may be applied and combine two or more groups to model addition.

Stage 1

Weeks 6 - 8

Combining and Separating Quantities : Subtraction

Students will use advanced count-by-one strategies to solve subtraction problems, use flexible strategies to solve subtraction problems, and recognise and recall number bonds up to 10.

Stage 2

Weeks 6 - 8

Multiplicative Relations: Patterns and Multiplication

Students will be generating and describing patterns. Using arrays to establish multiplication facts, and recalling multiplication facts for 2 and 4, 5 and 10. They will also be representing and solving problems involving multiplication fact families.

Stage 3

Week 6 - 8

Non-spatial Measure: Time

Students will compare 12- and 24-hour time systems and convert between them, and also solve problems involving the duration of 12- and 24-hour time.
