Term 1 – Art
Now we are halfway into first term all grades have been showing wonderful creativity in the art room! The art room is where there is mindful uniqueness and experimentation to discover new techniques in a hands on way.
Preps have been discovering that “Monsters Love Colours”…both primary and secondary ones!
Grade 1/2's have been working on creating movement by making “Lines That Wiggle” both on paper and with wire.
Grade 3/4's have learned a bit about “Perspective”, while inside and outside the classroom.
Grade 5/6’s had their “Big Eyes” opened to new opportunities and were allowed to do a little bit of graffiti.
We all can’t wait to begin the next stage of paper crafting and construction for our Easter Hat Parade at the end of Term!
PA
In Performing Arts students have been learning about keeping the beat and body percussion. Students have had the opportunity to create their own body percussion bands which has been so much fun!
Tommy enjoyed playing the glockenspiel!
Students have been challenged with a new game of sevens- there was a lot of determination and healthy competition
HOL
Hands on Learning (HoL) has certainly hit the ground running so far in 2025! We have braved some hot weather and managed to get ourselves set up for a really big year this year. The first two sessions were solely focused on cleaning up our yard and building a little bit of school pride after the school holidays. We also cleaned up our HoL shed so we knew what needed to be purchased or updated. This year, we have Jacob, Kale and Barry in charge of our HoL team. We are already looking ahead to some bigger projects to make our school better, engaging with some secondary school HoL programs to assist with future transition and be able to utilise some of their tools and materials.
Last week, we started our first project in making windchimes. This requires a fair bit of measuring and careful cutting of different parts. We will continue to work on these for a couple of weeks, to be able to take home and gift to someone special.
Hands on Learning is first and foremost, a personal, social and emotional learning program. While we engage by 'learning with our hands', all tasks and activities are designed to help each individual student build these important skills when; working with others, faced with challenges or learning something new. Already, we have been blown away by how well all of our HoL students have engaged and formed a really great team!
