The Jubilee Prayer

Father in heaven,

may the faith you have given us

in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,

and the flame of charity enkindled

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,

reawaken in us the blessed hope

for the coming of your Kingdom.

May your grace transform us

into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.

May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos

in the sure expectation

of a new heaven and a new earth,

when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,

your glory will shine eternally.

May the grace of the Jubilee

reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,

a yearning for the treasures of heaven.

May that same grace spread

the joy and peace of our Redeemer

throughout the earth.

To you our God, eternally blessed,

be glory and praise for ever.

Amen

Pickering Brook Church Anniversary Celebrations

Our local Parish, the Pickering Brook Church (Our Lady of Grace) had its 70th anniversary celebrations recently. The day was full of a lot of history and memories, such as one of the statues was brought from Italy to Pickering Brook and has been used in processions by the parishioners over the years. While this statue is usually carried up the hill by the church community, this year the festival was not as big as usual. Being known for its surrounding orchards, one of the local traditions, that was prominent on the day, is to take the fresh picked fruit and have the children of the community present them at the church for a blessing by the priests.

Grateful for Today

Fr Henri Nouwen

I experienced it in my own seminary years … Everywhere there was a tendency to live, act and think as if the real life is not here but there, not now but later. Community develops where we experience that something significant is taking place where we are. It is the fruit of the intimate knowledge that we are together, not because of a common need – such as to learn a language – but because we are called together to him who is greater than these needs.

I do not know if I will be alive tomorrow, next week or next year. Therefore, today is always more important than tomorrow. We have to be able to say each day, “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.”

Parents and Students can send any donations either to Student Services or Room 114.
