Weeks 6 & 7 have absolutely flown by as we rally to face the last few weeks of Term One!

In Reading we sharpened our skills in summarising fiction and non-fiction texts and explored a variety of figurative language features to enrich our vocabulary. We then put our skills to the test as we completed activities which focussed on summarising, character traits, illustrating important events, identifying interesting vocabulary, unpacking setting and finding the moral of a story.

Writing had us creating persuasive pieces about whether Crocs should be considered as appropriate footwear for school. Students wrote fantastic arguments, resulting in a Battle of the Rebuttals between 4/5 S&X. An absolute tragedy then occurred where the chairs in our classrooms went on strike, and students pleaded with the very best of their persuasive skills to have their chairs back at work. Students continued on to creating persuasive advertisements for the 'best burger', then represented the Dingo from Wombat Stew, persuading the jury of his innocence.

In Numeracy we focused on multiplication, engaging in a variety of strategies such as doubling, halving, and using factors. We then moved on to location, using grid references and directions to locate and describe positions and pathways on a map, as well as locate points in the 4 quadrants of the Cartesian plane.

Students have shown fantastic skills in Auslan as they collected and graphed data based on favourite colours in the classroom!

In Geography, the Grade 4s have spent the lasr few weeks researching an endangered animal and creating an informational PowerPoint, highlighting important information and facts about the endangered animal, why they are endangered, and what we can do to help! Students then created watercolour silhouette paintings of their chosen endangered animals which featured the reason for their endangerment.

Well done to our Grade 4/5/6 Student Achievers!
