Halogen Student Leadership Excursion:

Last Monday, Mrs Pettigrove and I took 5 of our lovely student leaders to Melbourne to the Halogen Leadership conference. Cooper, Hannah, Kai, Jasmine and Annabel enjoyed the opportunity to learn from leaders from different walks of life including Sports, Creative Writing and Acting. We are looking forward to seeing our student leaders develop their own leadership capacity and lead their peers in a range of ways.

IGA and Students:

We are aware that quite a number of our students are stopping to make purchases at the Bunyip IGA on the way to school. We would appreciate it if parents and carers can provide some guidance to their children about the purchases they are making and a reminder that as they are in school uniform they are representing our school community. We are finding a number of students are purchasing energy drinks and large quantities of lollies and chocolate.

Attendance:

Everyday Counts. Children and young people learn, socialise and develop important skills at school, which helps to build connection and to foster a sense of belonging.

Going to school every day is an important part of your child’s education. Children and young people learn new things at school every day, connect with friends, have fun and develop good habits that help them to succeed after school. Attending and participating in school will help your child:

  • develop important skills and knowledge to help them learn
  • develop social and emotional skills such as good communication, resilience and team work
  • establish friendships with peers which help develop self-esteem and a sense of belonging.

There is no safe number of days for missing school. Being away from school for 1 day a fortnight adds up to missing 4 whole weeks of school a year. Where possible, you should avoid your child missing school, for example, make appointments for your child outside of school hours and keep family holidays to outside term time.

Epilepsy Awareness:

Epilepsy awareness day is on March 26th and is known as Purple Day. It's a global day to raise awareness and funds for people with epilepsy.

All students are invited to wear purple on March 26th to raise awareness. We will have merchandise available for purchase at the main office.

Updated Policies:

We have updated a number of our policies which have been sent out on compass and made available of the website. Please take the time to make yourself familiar with our policies. Recently updated policies include: Anaphylaxis, Duty of Care, First Aid and Ill Student Care, Medication Distribution, Supervision and Yard Duty and Health Needs.

Parent Teacher Chats:

A reminder that if you have not yet booked in for your parent - teacher chat via compass, please book in for a 10 minute time slot. If you are unable to find a time that works for you, please contact your child's teacher to organise an alternative time. Please remember that these times need to fit within the Teacher's working hours.
