Pentecost - God Sends the Holy Spirit to Help Us.
This unit introduces our students to the Holy Trinity, focusing on how God the Father sent the Holy Spirit through Jesus to dwell within humanity. Students explore the scriptural accounts of Jesus’ promise to his disciples (John 14:15-17) and the subsequent arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-12). Through these texts, students learn that Pentecost marks the "birthday of the Church" and the start of its mission.
The unit emphasises that while the Holy Spirit is an invisible helper, it is a powerful presence that guides Christians today, giving them courage to make good choices and helping them grow in fruits like patience, peace, joy, and kindness.
God as Creator
This unit invites students to explore the scriptural image of God as the powerful and wise Creator of the universe. By studying the symbolic creation narratives in Genesis (Genesis 1:1-28, 2:1-3), students reflect on the inherent goodness, beauty, and intentional balance built into the world, such as light and dark, day and night, and activity and rest. The unit highlights that all creation has a unique purpose and that human beings are uniquely special because they are made in God's image. Ultimately, students are called to respond with gratitude and to live out their role as stewards by actively caring for the environment, animals, and one another.
