Useful Information

SCHOOL HOURS

  • Supervision is provided in the morning from 8.30am. 
  • All children are expected to be at school in time for the bell at 8.50am.
  • Students who arrive after this time are required to have an adult sign them in at the school office before proceeding to their class.
  • Classes finish at 3:10pm and students are dismissed from the front playground at 3.10pm.
  • Supervision is provided on the playground until 3.30pm.
  • Students who need to leave school before 3.10pm must be signed out at the school office by an adult before leaving the school grounds.

SAFE DROP OFF & PICK UP

Just a reminder that the parking on Maroubra Road directly out the front of the school is 5 minutes only. To keep our students safe please follow this rule and please DO NOT double park or park across or in the school, parish or surrounding driveways. Please be mindful that there are many students being dropped off and picked up, so a prompt and safe drop off is appreciated. Our priority is to keep our students safe at all times.

SAFE TRAVEL TO AND FROM SCHOOL

In keeping with child safety and pedestrian and traffic safety:

 

  • Students should travel the most direct route to and from school
  • Students should always follow safe use of road crossings at all times
  • Parents should discuss with their children management strategies to use if approached by a stranger

SPORT UNIFORM DAYS FOR 2026

  • Kindergarten to Year 4 - Wednesday & Thursday

  • Year 5 & Year 6 - Tuesday & Wednesday

LIBRARY DAYS FOR 2026 

Library lessons for all classes are on a fortnightly cycle. Please see weekly overview posted on a Sunday night via Compass or Social Media to confirm your child's library lesson for the week.

 

  • TUESDAYS FORTNIGHTLY - Year 1, Year 2 and Year 4

  • WEDNESDAYS FORTNIGHTLY - Kinder, Year 3, Year 5, Year 6

Choir will be on a Wednesday morning before school at 7.45am in the hall.

  • BOYS SCHOOL UNIFORM - All boys should now be wearing the school shirt with St Aidan's Current Crest as shown below. 

     

  • BOYS & GIRLS SPORT UNIFORM - All students should now be wearing the school polo shirt with St Aidan's Current Crest as shown below.

Our families were given a transition period starting in 2022 to transition from the old Crest to the current Crest.

 

All students are now only to be wearing the Current Crest on all school uniform items including school shirt, polo shirt, jumpers, jackets and hats.

A friendly reminder to label all student clothing and items clearly so they can be easily returned.

 

HAIRSTYLES

  • Extreme hairstyles for boys or girls are not appropriate for school. 
  • Hair is to be neat and tidy. If hair is longer than shoulder length it should be tied back with only school coloured hair accessories white, dark green or navy. 
  • Hair should not be shorter than a number 2 and should not have any patterns or lines.

 

JEWELLERY

  • No jewellery (bracelets and necklaces etc.) should be worn to school. 

  • No wrist bands at all. 

  • A wrist watch is appropriate for school - smart watches to be handed into office. 

  • For safety reasons, children with pierced ears should only wear stud earrings.

 

MOBILE PHONES & SMART WATCHES

  • All mobile phones and smart watches must be registed at the office at the beginning of the year and the policy signed by both parent and student. (see below)

  • All mobile phones and smart watches must be handed to the office as soon as the student arrives at school before entering the playground.

  • Students will be handed back their mobile phone or watch as they leave the playground in the afternoon at dismissal.

ST AIDAN'S MOBILE PHONE & SMART WATCH POLICY

Purpose

Our school recognises that some students may need to bring a mobile phone or smart watch to school for safety or family communication before and after school. This policy ensures these devices do not disrupt learning, compromise student wellbeing, or interfere with school operations.

 

This policy must be read and signed by both the student and their parent/carer before a device is brought to school.

 

1. Devices Covered by This Policy

  • Mobile phones - any type.
  • Smart watches - including cellular, Bluetooth, or Wi‑Fi enabled models, even if set on school mode or with the capability of being connected to a phone.

     

2. Bringing Devices to School

  • Bringing a device is optional and entirely at the family’s discretion.
  • The school accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage.
  • Devices must be clearly labelled with the student’s name.
  • Devices must be switched off before entering school grounds.

     

3. Storage During the School Day

  • All mobile phones and smart watches must be handed  to the school office before entering the playground before school.
  • Devices will be securely stored during the day in the office.
  • All mobile phones and smart watches will be returned at the end of the school day from the teacher on duty on the front playground as the students are leaving the premises.

     

4. Use of Devices

Students may not use mobile phones or smart watches during:

  • Class time
  • Recess or lunch
  • Assemblies or events
  • Excursions including school camp
  • Before or after school while on school grounds

     

Photography, video recording, or audio recording is strictly prohibited at all times.

 

5. Communication During the Day

  • Students needing to contact home must do so through the school office.
  • Parents needing to contact their child must call the school office.
  • Students must not send or receive messages on their devices during school hours.

     

6. Misuse of Devices

If a student uses a device without permission or inappropriately:

  1. The device will be confiscated and stored in the office.
  2. Parents may be required to collect the device in person.
  3. Repeated misuse may result in the student losing permission to bring a device to school.

     

Serious misuse including bullying, recording others, or accessing inappropriate content may result in further disciplinary action.

 

7. Privacy and Safety

  • Devices must not be used to take photos, videos, or audio recordings of any student, staff member, or school activity.
  • Devices must not be used to access social media, games, or messaging apps.
  • Students must not share their device with others.

     

8. Agreement

By signing this policy, parents/carers and students acknowledge that:

  • They understand and agree to follow this policy.
  • They accept responsibility for the device.
  • They understand that failure to follow the policy may result in consequences.

BEFORE AND AFTER CARE

Camp Australia is our our provider for care out of school hours. Before and After school care is available Monday to Friday. Opening hours are 7am - 8:30am and 3:10pm - 6pm.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

To celebrate birthdays in the classroom please send either Lollipops (Chupa Chups), Icy Poles/Zooper Doopers or small cupcakes/doughnuts and a reminder that these options need to be NUT FREE. Students who are dairy or gluten intolerant will have the option of an Icy Pole which will be supplied by the school. Should any parents not wish for their child to eat any of these treats please contact the school office.
