Principal's Message

Dear Parents, 

As we head into Week 10 next week, it is clear just how busy and productive the past few weeks have been across our school community. With the end of term now in sight we prepare to finish the term with positivity and gratitude. I have been very busy reading student reports from K-6 and I am proud of the way the students have embraced learning, persisted with their individual learning goals, supported one another and shown resilience.

PRINCIPAL & PASTOR DAY

On Tuesday, Father Allan and I attended this year’s Principal & Pastor Day. SCS executives, principals and pastors, gathered at Waterview, Homebush for a valued moment in our calendar for strengthening the partnership between school and parish. Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP offered an inspiring address on the upcoming International Eucharistic Congress 2028.

The Archbishop reflected on the profound opportunity the Congress presents for renewal, unity and deeper encounter with Christ in the Eucharist. His message encouraged principals and pastors to lead their communities with hope, imagination and a renewed sense of mission as we look toward this significant moment in the life of the Church.

The day provided a meaningful space for collaboration, prayer and shared purpose affirming the vital ministry our leaders carry out each day in service of students, families and parish communities.

CONFIRMATION

On Thursday night our Year 6 students received the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Holy Family Parish Church surrounded by their families, teachers and parish community. The celebration was made even more special by the presence of Bishop Richard Umbers, who led the liturgy and shared a heartfelt message about living with courage, joy and openness to the Holy Spirit.

This milestone marks an important step in the faith journey of our young people. We pray that the gifts of the Spirit continue to guide them as they grow in wisdom, compassion and discipleship.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

Our annual Athletics Carnival at Hensley Athletic Field was an incredible day filled with energy, teamwork and school pride. Our students were outstanding, showing excellent sportsmanship, cheering enthusiastically for their teammates and giving their very best in every event. 

A huge thank you to our amazing Sport Teacher, Miss Hinds, whose hard work and organisation ensured the carnival ran smoothly from start to finish. We are also deeply grateful to our dedicated staff for their support throughout the day.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to the parents who volunteered, helping with events and logistics to keep everything running seamlessly. We also appreciate the many parents and siblings who came along to cheer, support and share in the fun and community spirit of the day.

It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all and we are so proud of the way our school community came together to celebrate sport and teamwork.

PUBLIC SPEAKING 

We are incredibly proud of Amelia J and Olivia N, who represented our school in the SCS Public Speaking Grand Final. Competing at this level is an outstanding achievement and both students delivered their speeches with confidence, clarity and poise.

Their hard work, courage and commitment shone through and they represented our school with pride. We congratulate them on this wonderful accomplishment and look forward to seeing their voices continue to grow and inspire others.

SAFETY DRILLS AT SCHOOL

As part of our annual WHS procedures, we recently carried out both a lockdown drill and an evacuation drill. These drills help ensure that students and staff know exactly what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency and they allow us to practise our safety processes in a calm and controlled way.

Our students responded exceptionally well, demonstrating sensible behaviour and following all instructions throughout both drills. We are proud of the way they conducted themselves and appreciate the support of our school community in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
