Assistant Principal's Report

It is hard to believe that we have reached the halfway point of the school year. Our Foundation students are rapidly approaching their 100th day of school, while our Year 6 students have just one semester remaining of their primary school journey.

This semester has been filled with outstanding achievements, both academically and socially. Our assembly on Monday showcased our students' ability to Learn, Create and Inspire:

  • Foundation students confidently shared their experiences from the recent Police Visit, with FS doing a wonderful job teaching us about the Friends of 10.

  • Year 4 students demonstrated creativity through their use of technology and thoughtful reflections on their visit to the Immigration Museum.

  • We were inspired by the Year 3 performance of From Little Things, Big Things Grow, with the whole audience joining in for a sing-along.

  • We also celebrated students' success in the International Maths Challenge, with Ellie, James, Zinoviya, Pablo and Prad receiving certificates for their achievements.

Today, students were invited to wear free dress and bring a gold coin donation to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Through this fundraising initiative, we are helping bring hope, joy and positive experiences to children living with serious illness and supporting families when they need it most. This fundraiser is in partnership with our local Hungry Jacks.

Sushi Lunch

On Wednesday our Parents Association organised a delicious sushi lunch. In total we sold 630 sushi rolls. These opportunities are well supported by our families at BEPS and it is also a great way to fundraise for our school. We thank the Parents Association and Edwina for organising this yummy event.

Year 5 in Focus

Last Monday afternoon, our Year 5 students welcomed family members into the classroom to showcase their learning. Students proudly shared their workbooks, explained their learning experiences, and participated in a fun quiz with their guests. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to celebrate the students’ achievements and gain an insight into the learning taking place in our classroom.

 Semester 1 Reports

Semester 1 reports are now available on Compass for families to download. These reports are a wonderful celebration of the work the students have achieved so far this year.  We highly recommend that you look through your child’s report and read it with them, allowing them to celebrate their successes and take ownership of the areas in which they can improve. If you have any questions or concerns relating to the Semester 1 report you can contact your child’s classroom teacher or speak with them at the Parent-Teacher Conferences which will take place in Term 3.

Parent teacher interviews

A reminder that our Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place early next term.  These sessions offer an invaluable opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and discuss their Semester 1 report and learning journey. We encourage your participation and suggest bringing your child along. This involvement allows them to share their experiences and learning goals, fostering a comprehensive understanding of their progress and strengthening the home-school partnership.

Bookings will be available soon via Compass. Our Parent Teacher Interviews will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, 21 and 22 July. You will be provided with information on how to book a time with your child’s teacher before this time.

Your engagement in these conferences contributes to your child's success, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Work Experience

As part of the Victorian Curriculum, secondary school students are encouraged to undertake a career-based work placement. We have been fortunate to have several students join us over the last two weeks, undertaking work experience at Burwood East Primary School. The Year 10 students assisted in classrooms, specialist sessions and some general administration tasks around the school. We hope they enjoyed their time at BEPS and gained some insight into the teaching vocation.

Foundation 2027 T-Shirt design

Thank you to the Year 6 students who have submitted a t-shirt design for our Foundation students in 2027. We will be reviewing the designs and selecting an entry early next term. This annual tradition allows our Year 6 students to capture a snapshot of Burwood East Primary School, highlighting how we Learn. Create. & Inspire at BEPS. All entries are AMAZING and capture themes such as specialist classes, friendships, learning, global citizens and our school environment.

Happy Holidays

Wishing all our families a safe and happy mid-year break. We look forward to seeing the students return on Monday 13th of July.
