Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead
As we approach the end of another wonderful term at BEPS, there is much to celebrate and look forward to across our school community.
We are excited to share that Ducon has commenced construction of our new pergolas, which will provide further shaded areas and enhance our outdoor learning spaces. This significant addition to our school environment will create more opportunities for students to learn, collaborate and connect outdoors. With favourable weather conditions, we anticipate the project will be completed by Week 2 of Term 3.
Congratulations to the students who were recognised as our BEPS Waste Warrior Champions this term:
Lachlan FR
Aryan 1A
Angelina 2SL
Avie 2SL
Millie 3A
Emily 3A
Aozhi 3A
Sia 4J
Tauriel 4J
Greta 5A
Evan 5A
Dennis 5MD
Cici 5MD
These students consistently demonstrate pride in our school by helping to keep our grounds clean and promoting sustainable practices. Their commitment to caring for our environment is inspiring and reflects the values we strive to instil in all members of our community.
A big shout out also goes to our Senior Girls Soccer teams, who proudly represented BEPS last week. The teams displayed outstanding sportsmanship, determination and teamwork, winning numerous games and scoring some fantastic goals along the way. Congratulations to Team A, who have progressed to the next division playoffs. We wish them every success as they continue their soccer journey.
Finally, a reminder that our PLA Award Assembly will be held on Friday. This special assembly recognises students from across the school who consistently:
Show kindness and consideration for others
Demonstrate our school values and the habits of healthy students
Have a positive, can-do attitude
Build healthy and respectful friendships
Achieve success in their learning
We look forward to celebrating the achievements of these students and acknowledging the many ways they contribute positively to our school community.
Smartwatches at School
I would like to once again draw families' attention to the increasing number of students wearing smartwatches at school. Staff have noticed a rise in students accessing these devices during the school day, and we ask families to support us in ensuring that smartwatches are used appropriately and in accordance with school expectations.
If a student wears a smartwatch to school, it should be set to School Mode or an equivalent setting that limits notifications, messaging and other distracting features. Smartwatches should not be used to take photographs or videos in the yard or classroom, as this can compromise the privacy and wellbeing of other students.
Over the past year, BEPS has deliberately reduced the use of devices in classrooms. This approach has been informed by growing evidence that minimising digital distractions can positively influence student engagement, social interactions and overall wellbeing. We have observed these benefits firsthand, with improvements in students' focus, participation in learning and general behaviour across the school.
If your child requires a smartwatch for communication or safety reasons, we encourage you to have a conversation with them about its purpose and appropriate use. At school, the primary focus should remain on learning, building relationships and participating fully in the rich experiences that school life offers.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a positive and focused learning environment for all students.
We wish everyone a safe, restful and enjoyable break and look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 3.
