Year 2 Rubbish Club Takes Action

A group of Year 2 students have taken action to care for our school environment by starting a Rubbish Club. Inspired by the amount of rubbish they noticed around the school, the students wanted to make a difference. Daniel showed courage and care when meeting with the principal to share his concerns.

“The school is messy and we need to keep God’s planet clean,” Aavika shared. Gwen added, “We wanted to keep our environment clean,” while Gursheen explained, “Outside is very messy. Rubbish can get in the gutters and end up in the ocean.”

The club has set up special boxes around the school for students to place their rubbish.

To encourage positive action, stickers are given to students who use the boxes between Wednesday and Friday. The group has already presented their idea at assembly and plan to make more rubbish boxes as needed.

Through their leadership, the Rubbish Club is showing us all how small actions can create big change.

Celebrating Our Year 1 Authors

Year 1 students have been busy writing, creating, and publishing! As part of their inquiry into how family heritage shapes identity, students interviewed a special elder in their lives and turned these conversations into meaningful books. Inspired by the Little People, Big Dreams series, each child planned, drafted, illustrated and published their very own biography.

The process was just as important as the final product. Students wrote multiple drafts, edited carefully, and added thoughtful dedications and reflections. They then brought their stories to life with beautiful hand-drawn illustrations that captured the unique character and experiences of their chosen family member.

The finished picture books are treasures—authentic celebrations of family, identity and storytelling. We are incredibly proud of the effort, creativity, and persistence our young authors showed as they crafted these keepsakes to share with their loved ones.

Community Project: Big Group Hug

My name is Gurnaz and I am in Year 9. For my community project, I am raising awareness about underprivileged children in Tarneit by creating and putting up posters, making a video, and preparing presentations to share with others. I want to encourage the community to support these children so they can have better opportunities and feel more included.

Year 9 Mental Health Website

Year 9 students have created this website to raise awareness about mental health and wellbeing. It provides practical strategies to cope with stress, anxiety, and everyday challenges, as well as tips for building resilience and supporting friends. The site is designed to be a positive and safe space where young people can learn, connect, and find resources to help them take care of their mental health.
