This fortnight, our Secondary students embodied "Caring Together".
The School Captains lead with heart, vision, and a deep commitment to others. They supported me and Mrs McAuliffe in interviewing prospective School Captains for 2026.
During RUOK week, they supported the SLC students to lead powerful initiatives to build wellbeing and belonging—creating spaces where every student feels safe and supported.
Our Vocational Major students brought warmth and joy to residents at Mercy Place Wyndham, reminding us that small acts of kindness can have lasting impact. At their final session this week, they gifted the residents with a personal memoir.
As a Christian community, we find comfort in these words from Galatians 6:2:
"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."
Parents and carers, thank you for nurturing these values at home. Together, we are shaping a culture where care is not just a word, but a way of life.

As our Year 12 students enter their final weeks at GNLC, we mark this season with key milestones:
Week 2, Term 4: Final week of formal lessons
- Wednesday: Final Chapel,
- Thursday: Theme Day for Year 12s only, Graduation Rehearsal
- Friday: Graduation Service and Guard of Honour
Each event is a celebration of their journey and a reminder of the values that have shaped them.
We encourage every student to maintain high expectations of themselves—academically, socially and spiritually—and to continue upholding the values of our school community. Let this be a time of gratitude, reflection and joy."Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."— Galatians 6:9

This week, our Year 11 Product Design students from Tarneit have unveiled the Mambourin Cross, a remarkable project that embodies the spirit of sharing, unity, and our collective identity as one college. The cross, meticulously crafted by our talented students, stands as a powerful symbol of our commitment to these values.
The Mambourin Cross is more than just a piece of art; it represents the unity and strength of our community. It serves as a reminder that we are all connected, and together, we can achieve great things. The unveiling ceremony was a moment of pride and celebration for everyone involved.
As we reflect on this achievement, let us remember the words from 1 Corinthians 1:10: "I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."

Our class of 2025 have taken time during Christian Studies to thank their teachers at Good News Lutheran College. As part of our Encouragement Unit, Year 12s have been exploring how to express their joy and encourage those in their community. Students shared their gratitude to their teachers through letters, reminiscing on fun times and past lessons learnt over their time at GNLC. Teachers have done so much for our Year 12 students and on behalf of the them, we thank you for all the long days and sacrifices you have made to help the Year 12s meet their goals as they prepare for their end of year Sacs and Exams.
To our class of 2025, we wish you all the best for your practice exams next week and look forward to celebrating at your graduation this coming October.
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ"
Philippians 1:9-10

Our Gravitate students Alexandria and Magdalena attended their second camp focused on Outreach in Term 2, reconnecting with friends from participating schools hosted by Youth Dimension. In this experience, students reflected on their own faith testimonies and how they can use their experience to share the Gospel. Guest speaker Jamie Co, a pastor and evangelist, led students in a series on how to share God’s Story to those in their community with practical tips and wisdom to start a conversation. Students were encouraged to actively pray for their communities and share their testimonies with each other. This camp was a reminder of the power of prayer and personal testimonies.
In August was the Gravitate Community Day at the Melbourne School of Theology, where we joined together for our last event before graduation. Students worked on the meaning behind Jesus Christ's parables in the Gospels and creating fun short form content modernizing the contexts of key lessons of Jesus.

25 Year 10 students from the College were invited to participate in a unique opportunity with WynBay LLEN and the Victorian Government Level Crossing Removal Project from 11 till 15 August. Students had the opportunity across the week to visit the Hopkins Road Level Crossing site and engage in a Project Based Learning (PBL) activity back at school whereby they were to design a proposal for the removal of the Hopkins Road level crossing. They worked with teachers from the school to present their proposal to representatives from the government department involved in the project.
This was a unique opportunity for students who are interested in STEM, Engineering or trade-related careers to gain some experience in project-based work, and is an insight to the type of applied learning students may undertake in a vocational major program.
On Monday 11 August, the 25 students, along with Mr Mani and Mr McCarthy, went to the site and were informed of all the logistics behind this project. The students met some influential people behind the scenes and had an insight into pathways to the actual jobs they were looking at.
From Tuesday 12 August to Friday 15 August, the students worked at the College in groups collaborating on their design with associated tasks before presenting on Friday.
Their hard work and effort were recognised during the Year 7-12 Assembly, where the project Manager issued the competition certificates to the students.

On Tuesday, June 10, the Year 10 Art class visited NGV International to experience the Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition, French Impressionism. This exclusive tour and viewing showcased more than 100 works on loan from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston — many of which were being shown in Australia for the first time.
The excursion not only deepened students’ appreciation of French Impressionism but also encouraged them to think critically about how historical, cultural, and social contexts shape art movements. As students look ahead to their VCE years, building this wider understanding will continue to enrich their own artmaking and learning.

As part of our ongoing Rite Journey program, students participated in an excursion that formed a key part of their journey toward adulthood – the City Experience which was on Tuesday, 26 August.
This day was designed to take students outside of their normal environment and provide them with opportunities to develop independence, responsibility, social awareness, and resilience, while continuing their personal reflection and growth. It supported the core aims of The Rite Journey by encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
The students selected their groups and were tasked to navigate their way to the city using the Public Transport. The whole process started with group selection, using the PTV app on their phones to make the journey planner. Since the students were to report to the Southern cross station by 8:45 am, this activity involved waking up early in order to reach the nearest train station on time to get the train to the city.
The students participated in the “GNLC Amazing Race” and the winners will be announced during Assembly on Monday, 8 September.
We now look forward to the last event of the program – SOLO night in Term 4.
