At Dinjerra we follow the statewide prep enrolment process. Please visit STARTING SCHOOL. This page contains information for families on how to enrol their child in a Victorian government school and outlines the timeframes for submitting Foundation (Prep) enrolment applications for the 2026 school year. To locate your designated neighbourhood school please visit www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au

If you would like to enrol your child at Dinjerra Primary School you may do so by visiting the administration office or alternatively by phoning us on 9311 1598 during school hours.

Steps to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the 2026 school year

If your child is starting Foundation (Prep) in 2026, you will be able to apply to enrol your child in a Victorian government primary school from the start 22nd April 2025.

What you need to do:

Use Find my School to locate your designated neighbourhood school (referred to as your local school) and read about enrolling in a school.Please note school zones for 2026 will be available in late Term 1, 2025.
Contact our school to book a school tour or to learn more about the school and the enrolment application process.

Submit an enrolment application for Foundation (Prep) by by Friday 25 July 2025. (Please see below for enrolment and applications forms).
You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 28 July and Friday 8 August 2025 . If you receive an offer of placement, you should accept the offer by Friday 22 August 2025.
Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2025.
Your child will start Foundation (Prep) from Wednesday 28 January 2026.

Enrolment applications submitted after 25th July 2025 will be processed by the school as they are received, in accordance with the Department’s Placement Policy.

I WANT TO ENROL MY CHILD (Years 1 - 6) Fantastic! Complete the following steps:

Download & complete the enrolment form: Enrolment forms must be completed, signed and returned to the school office.
Collate the following original documents which will be copied by the school:
You will need to give important information about your child, including:
- evidence of your child’s date of birth (birth certificate, or, if they were not born in Australia, a passport or travel document such as a visa)
- your contact, phone and address details, and that of any other parent, guardian and/or carer
- names and contact details of emergency contacts
- doctor’s and dentist’s names and phone numbers
- Immunisation Status Certificate
- health and welfare information
- information about the languages your child speaks and hears at home
- details of any parenting orders or legal matters to do with the care or safety of your child (service providers are obliged to keep your information private)
- if your child will be attending out of hours school care. If they are, a separate enrolment and bookings will need to be made for the days they will attend.
If you need an interpreter to help fill out the application form, the school staff can help organise this for you.

For families arriving from overseas, school entry is determined by the Visa Subclass Number on your child's Passport. Students unable to enrol directly into the School can enrol via the International Education Division. Please contact them on 03 9637 2990, by email on international@edumail.vic.gov.au or visit their website on www.study.vic.gov.au for further information.
