Year 1 - Literacy &

Year 6 Report Writing

What an incredible term of Literacy learning in Year 1!

Our young learners have been diving into the world of Information Texts in both Reading and Writing, and what an adventure it’s been! Through Reading, students have been developing powerful strategies like summarising, synthesising, and identifying the main idea—skills that are turning them into confident, curious readers.

In Writing, students have become budding experts on a range of fascinating topics, from animals to the sun, and even swimming!

They've been planning, drafting, editing and publishing their own informative texts, learning how to structure their writing and use topic-specific vocabulary to truly inform and engage their readers.

A highlight of the term was when our Year 6 students visited to share their own informative texts with the Year 1’s. It was a wonderful moment of connection and inspiration, and the excitement in the room was contagious!

In Speaking and Listening, students took to the spotlight with their Big Talks

After interviewing a family member about what life was like when they were growing up, students shared heartfelt and engaging presentations. We were so proud to see their confidence, resilience and storytelling skills shine as they brought their family histories to life.
