Principal's Message

Words from the College Principal, Issue 6, Term 3, 2025.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh.

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Alhamdulillah, Term 3 has been a memorable and productive chapter in the 2025 ICOM journey. From academic achievements to extracurricular engagement, our students have embraced a wide range of experiences that have enriched their learning and personal growth.

This term we placed a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing through our Sunnah to Smile Mental Health Week. This initiative reminded our students of the simple yet profound Sunnah of smiling, and how small acts of kindness can uplift those around us. Wellness picnics, mental health workshops, a pizza and bake sale fundraiser were amongst the many activities arranged to create a vibrant and meaningful week. To commemorate the occasion, students came to school in green pyjamas and accessories – a colour associated with purity and one of the Prophet’s (PBUH) favourites. Alhamdulillah, it was a positive week that highlighted the importance of mental health and wellbeing at ICOM, and the value we place on nurturing both the minds and hearts of our students.

We also celebrated the much-anticipated STEM Week, a time filled with creativity, exploration, and discovery. The week included engaging incursions such as the Maths Escape Room, the Amazing Race, and a variety of hands-on experiments, along with the ever-popular STEM Fair. A highlight of the week was the giant Cosmo Dome, which transformed into a planetarium and offered students a captivating journey through the solar system. On STEM Dress Up Day, students embraced the theme wholeheartedly, arriving as budding scientists, astronauts, and engineers. The energy and excitement of the week showcased not only the fun of STEM but also the curiosity and skills that will benefit our students well into the future, Insha Allah.

As Term 3 concludes, it also signals the beginning of a crucial period for our Year 12 students. Towards the end of the term, they completed their trial examinations, an important step in preparing for the fast approaching VCE and IB exams. I commend their perseverance during this demanding time and make dua for their continued success, Insha Allah.

The term concluded with Parent Teacher Interviews, an invaluable opportunity for parents and teachers to engage in constructive conversations about each student’s progress and goals. I sincerely thank our parents and guardians for your ongoing support and partnership, which plays a key role in helping our students grow, flourish, and thrive in their learning journey.

ICOM’s annual Umrah and Turkey leadership trip will commence over the upcoming school holidays. This journey will provide our selected students with a unique opportunity to strengthen their spiritual connection through Umrah, while also broadening their horizons by exploring the rich history and culture of Turkey. Such experiences are truly transformative, nurturing leadership, reflection, and gratitude. I ask Allah (SWT) to accept their efforts, grant them a safe and blessed journey, and allow them to return with cherished memories and stories to share, Insha Allah.

As we now look ahead to Term 4, the final part of the year promises to be full of milestones, from exams and assessments to end-of-year programs and celebrations. With the continued support of families and staff, I am confident our students will finish the year strongly, Insha Allah. I wish you all a restful and safe break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for a successful Term 4.
