Grade 6

Wellbeing/SWBPS
This fortnight, the wellbeing focus for Grade 6 students will be around online bullying. We will be identifying what it looks like, the impacts and safe and responsible ways to respond.
English
Students are completing their novel: Us Mob Walawurru this week as well as assessment tasks. Our next unit is a 'knowledge rich' unit: Immigration & International Interaction. Students will practice organising their knowledge learnt in multi-paragraph outlines (MPOs) in writing. At a sentence level, they will be learning different ways to combine 3-4 sentences using knowledge of clauses, punctuation, conjunctions, and appositives.
Mathematics
It has been great to see so many students continuing to level up in our daily number fluency practice!
If you are in search of resources to practice, this link will take you to the M.I.N.D. website 'taped problems.' Simply choose one to play, and students can write down or say the answer before the recording.

Throughout the next fortnight, students will be completing a number of summative assessments, as well as continuing to learn about fractions, decimals and percentages. In particular:
-Identifying and selecting strategies for calculating fractions, decimals and percentages.
-Using associated fraction, decimal and percentage facts to estimate answers.
-Rounding to estimate fraction, decimal and percentage solutions.
Creative Connections
To showcase their understanding and creatively connect to their novel study, we are creating totems and diaramas that display key settings or important events from the text.
