EHS House News!

What a way to wrap up Term 3!

In Week 2-7, students across all year groups were able to take part in House Captain led Trivia! Students were allocated a Roll Call class to enter each week, where they asked ONE question. Students were able to respond, with winners called out each week at assembly for prizes. All correct answers entered the overall raffle, for a $20 canteen voucher. This was a successful initiative prompted by Year 10/11 House Captains, specifically Joshua C. Well done team!

To finalise the end of the 2024-2025 House Captain era, the team held their first charity fundraising day - that being, Jersey Day.

A national initiative with the purpose to lead conversations with friends and family regarding the importance of Organ and Tissue Donation, Jersey Day was a huge success!

As a schooling community, we wanted to recognise the importance of this day, as many students, including past alumni students, have faced the need to seek life saving treatment. We thank both the Heyburgh and Evans family for sharing their story with us over the years. In connecting with students, both Emma and Jacob Evans shared the need for students to register to be a donor via a video, as they competed in Germany at the World Transplant Games 2025. We would like to congratulate them both on their success in their respective field of 5km running, golf and 6-a-side soccer.

If you would like to learn more about their story, you can watch their ABC excerpt here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hh4lp6LAlwk

Students were encouraged to get involved with the day via wearing their House Colour or a Sports Jersey to support this initiative. Additionally, students were also encouraged to donate to the raffle (with all proceeds raised to DonateLifeNSW), and get involved with the OzTag game that was held at lunchtime.

We are so thankful and appreciative for the story of Alana and Layla, who spoke to Year 10 students and House Captains about their own personal experiences with supporting a loved one as they waited for a life-saving transplant. They both were about to share personal details of what life was like for over 2 years as they waited for a new organ for their husband/father. They spoke of their personal turmoil, support from medical professionals and the reasoning behind sharing their story. We are grateful for their willingness to share such personal details of the hardships they have been through.

Big thanks to all our sponsors for raffle prizes, including West Tigers, who donated a signed 2024 NRLW Jersey and scarf, Camden Framing, @sweetobsessionbysarah for the candles and potted plants, as well as Jersey Day for supporting with sportsgear and official supplies. Congratulations to all the winners!

On the same day, House Meetings were held to recognise the achievements of students across the Term, and to vote for the next 2025-2026 House Captains. Well done to all those students who spoke in front of their Houses - and discussed what they could bring to the team. Big congratulations to each student who received such recognition for topping the tally of their House. Merino remains on top going into the last Term for 2025.

As of Monday Week 7, the tally stands at:

Merino -22743

Bluetongue -20696

We would also like to announce, recognise and congratulate Bluetongue Vice House Captain, Mason P, who has been successful in his application for the Captaincy Team. A reminder that all students in the House Team can use their experience as a platform to apply, and enter into the Senior Leadership Team. We know that his enthusiasm, energy and spirit will be an incredible asset to this team. He follows in the footsteps of Noah D (2024 Alumni) and James O (Graduate of 2025) who have used their opportunity in the House Team to make successful applications to the Senior Captaincy Team.

Lastly, we farewell Mrs Mulligan as she goes on maternity leave, and welcome Ms Read to take over the mentoring and coordination of this role for the next 12 months.  We wish the incredible team of 2024-2025 best of luck with their future endeavours - with many graduating this term. Thank you for bringing the spirit, enthusiasm and energy! You have left a legacy!
