Principal's Message

Riverwalk Primary School is a child safe community.

We acknowledge the Wathaurong People, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we teach and learn, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Wominjeka!

Dear Riverwalk Primary School Community,

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their ongoing support and contribution to the life of our school. The past few weeks have been filled with opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate together.

Emotional Wellbeing Week

In Week 8, we celebrated our second Visible Wellbeing Week. Students and staff engaged in daily mindfulness practices, built our “gratitude wall,” and used emotional management stickers to support positive self-regulation in classrooms. The week also included R U OK? Day, where age-appropriate activities encouraged conversations around awareness, empathy, and supporting others. This week highlighted the importance of making wellbeing a shared focus across our school.

House Spirit Day

Yesterday we held our second House Spirit Day, a wonderful celebration of our four houses. Our House Captains and student leaders did an outstanding job in organising and running the day. Students came dressed in their house colours and enjoyed a variety of activities:

  • Foundation–Year 2: obstacle courses, chalk art, chain tag, and dance
  • Years 3–6: obstacle courses, origami, dodgeball, and dance

Building Community Connections

We continue to value strong partnerships with families and our wider community. Recently we:

  • Hosted a Parent Morning Tea as part of our school review. Families provided valuable feedback on our strengths and areas for improvement, while also connecting with each other and our Principal Team. Stayed tuned for details of our next morning tea next term,
  • Our Father’s Day BBQ brought together dads, carers, and families. It was great to see so many in attendance and we thank Team Kids for cooking the BBQ and contributing to its success.

Facilities Update

Preparatory works for our new double story portable will begin over the holidays. The installation is expected toward the end of Term 4, and you may have noticed fencing has already gone up next to the triple storey portables on Exploration Avenue. These new facilities will help us continue to meet the needs of our growing school community.

I wish you all a safe and restful holiday break, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 4.

Regards,

Barry Devlin
