Class Placement Requests for 2026
We will be building our 2026 grades in the coming weeks. We take great care to ensure that the classes are well balanced, and all students have the best opportunity to be engaged and learn.
Students thrive in an environment where they are scaffolded to make a variety of friends and are supported to work through friendship issues. Children developmentally grow over time and friendships change and grow with them.
Student Friend List (Taken in class time)
Your child / children will be asked in classroom time to advise of five friends that they would choose to be in a class with. The list will not have a priority order, and we will ensure each child is placed with at least one of their chosen friends in 2026. This will be explained to the students by classroom teachers. You may like to have a conversation with your child/children regarding their friendship choices.
One Parent Request can be Considered
If deemed necessary, a family may make one request per child for classroom placement. This may be a friendship request or a separation request, but not both, and we will not consider requests for a particular teacher.
We are unable to consider historical parent requests from previous years. You will need to make this request again for 2026.
If you have one parent request for your child, please forward this via email with the email heading “Parent Request for 2026’ to the Assistant Principal Kate McLeod at kate.mcleod@education.vic.gov.auby Friday 31st October 2025.
We cannot take requests after this date.
As this is a complex process, with many factors taken into account (including other parent requests) we will consider a parent request, but please understand it may not be granted.
We thank you for your support and we are confident we will create positive, well-balanced classes for 2026.
Hats are Back
Just a reminder that students are now required to be wearing their school hat when outside to protect them from dangerous UV rays. Could you please ensure your child has their Rangeview Primary School hat at school at all times.
Our newly designed school hats, with the house colour underneath are available at the school office for $22.45.
Teddy Bear Picnic - Foundation
On Friday the 10th October, our Foundation students participated in the annual Foundation Teddy Bear Picnic. The students had so much fun with their favourite teddies, finding Heart Words and eating Teddy Bear Biscuits.
The Learning Pit
The Learning Pit supports students to understand that sometimes we need to 'struggle' with a concept before we can master it. The Learning Pit is a positive place to be because it means that a student has fully considered the concept, and now has more questions then when they started. Learners can get out of the pit by finding answers to their questions.
Some of the benefits of using the Learning Pit include:
- Students create a culture that combines intellectual risk-taking with psychological safety
- Students challenge themselves
- Students build social and emotional learning skills
- Students build upon their reasoning skills
- Students place concepts at the heart of learning design
Students have been working with the Learning Pit over the past few weeks in their weekly specialist Mathematics class.
Below are some of our student's drawings of the Learning Pit.
Safe Pick Up and Drop Off Vehicle Parking
We do recognise that with our school surrounded by houses, drop off and pick up parking is limited, however student safety is paramount and it is important to follow all signage.
Please adhere to the parking signs.
Please do not use the school driveway as a pick up or drop off park. We have a number of vehicles that need to enter the car park for disabled access, and we cannot have the driveway blocked at any time.
Please be respectful of our neighbours and do not do stop vehicles across driveways.
The 'Kiss & Go' park is for drop off only. Please do not use this as a car park, the driver must stay with the car, allow the student to get out of the car, and then move on.
Please do not double park, this blocks the road and is very dangerous for students getting out of cars.
We thank everyone for their support with drop off and pick up time.
Using the Carpark Safely
Safety around cars is always paramount, a reminder to not walk through the middle of the carpark with your children. Kindly please use the paths provided.
