Design Technology

Term 3 Review
It has been another exciting and busy term in the STEM Centre for the Design Technologies students. The changeover of semesters means the start of subjects for new classes. Therefore, much of Term 3 is taken up with safety and design development for the projects at different levels. Folio work enhances the student’s creativity and potential problem-solving skills. Once design development has been completed, our talented students have commenced their projects.
Year 7’s are working on their Wooden Box designs and attaining woodwork skills with hammers and saws. Year 8’s have been attaining metalwork skills while completing their Articulated Pendants. Year 8 Electives have created fantastic Chopping Boards (Wood), Soft Toys (Textiles), STEM Race Cars (Digital) and Copper Bowls (Metal). Year 9 Electives are completing amazing LED Lamps (Resistant Materials), Sumobots (Digital), Tote Bags (Textiles) and Welded Sculptures (Retro Metal).
Our VCE students are well underway with the manufacture of a variety of projects. Both Year 11 VCE and VCE VM students are working on an ‘Inclusive Product’, Year 12 students are nearing completion of their ‘Ethical Considerations’ project and Systems Engineering students are completing their ‘Electrotechnological Product’.
