Student Learning

Whats happened around the school

Foundation

In Week 6 we continued to practise our letter knowledge and played some games in Maths where we were subitising numbers and ordering things in height order.

Foundation students have begun to use iPads to improve their phonic knowledge after working on various sounds this term.

Grades 1 & 2

In Grade 1 Literacy we have been learning to morph words. We start with a base word and add a prefix or suffix to make a new word. Through this, we are learning about spelling rules and building our vocabulary. We have also been learning about narratives and identifying the main parts of a story such as the characters, setting, problem and solution.

In Grade 1 Numeracy we have been doing lots of measuring! We were given 3 containers and made predictions about their capacity with our group. We then went outside and tested our predictions using sand.

Grade 2 has been practising addition and subtraction by playing 'Race to 45'.

Grades 3 & 4

The Grade 3 students love being in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden. It is an important part of the process of understanding the garden-to-plate concept.

Grades 5 & 6

Sports Gala Days

The Girl's Basketball team played matches on the second Gala Day and won all four!

Their team work was what saw them reach the 4 wins and not one-player held up the team. They were all contributors to the victories and had a great day meeting new students from other schools. Tennis was so much fun, and all teams did amazing. Mixed B teams won the Premiership for the Ringwood District Schools.
