Mr McClare

Mr McClare is taking a small amount of long service leave and enjoying some time with his family in Queensland. He will be back this Thursday and I'm sure will have lots of stories to share about their adventures!

Student achievements

This week our Student Achievements page has multiple submissions from parents and I hope that you will click over there to take a look. I'm so very proud of the different accomplishments of Zach, Pia and Abi and so impressed that our students are out in the world trying new things and truly making a difference!

NAPLAN

We've been very proud of our Grade 3 and 5 students who participated in the NAPLAN sessions with bravery and resilience. Thank you to the teachers and Education Support staff who work hard to maintain a very calm and no-pressure environment for these sessions because after all, they are (like any other piece of assessment) just a snapshot of the great work happening here every day. Results will be available to families later in the year (Usually Term 3) and we will share a summary of results with our community via the School Council. Being online these days, the administration of NAPLAN has its complexities and we thank the NAPLAN co-ordinators Mr Anderson and Mrs Boulton for all of their hard work ensuring that there were no technical disruptions for students.

Interschool Sport Gala

Thank you to Mrs Oakley, Ms Davies and 5/6 Staff for coaching and encouraging all of our students to participate in the recent Sports Gala days against our local schools. We were very grateful to also have the help of many parent helpers. Without their help, days like that are not possible. A huge congratulations to all Kalinda students who not only competed with great skill and perseverance but also demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork. Click on over to the PE News page for further details of their accomplishments.

THRASS information sessions

It was great to see new and existing families come along to our THRASS information sessions this week. Thank you to our Literacy Leader Natasha Weekes and Learning Specialist Bron Steele for running these sessions. All of our teachers facilitate rich, evidence-based learning in Literacy and it was wonderful to share the ins and outs of THRASS with you.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Later this week we will publish information about booking a Parent Teacher Interview on Monday 15th April. This day will be a Student Free Day and Interviews will be offered between Midday and 730pm to allow for busy families to attend. This is a great opportunity to hear an update on your child's social and academic progress, and to discuss with your teacher how you can best support your learner at home. Our Interviews happen online, via the Webex platform, making them very accessible for busy parents. For those families new to the school, Webex is an online meeting platform that can be accessed through your web browser, there is no need to download any app. Please stay tuned for details.

Take care Kalinda, you matter to me.
