1A

By Kimi Vecchio

This week 1A was a part of the Glen Waverley Swimming Program, comprised of two components; a water safety program and swimming lessons!

Learners who did not attend swimming lessons, dived into the different types of water bodies, including lakes, pools and beaches. They learnt about dangers around the water, ways to minimise these dangers and the people who can help keep us safe around bodies of water. Learners put their creative talents on display when they drew different bodies of water and identified ways to remain safe around them.

In the meantime, our swimmers hopped on a bus to travel down to SwimWorld. Here our learners were greeted by their new swimming teacher for the next few weeks. They all eagerly jumped in, excitedly demonstrating their skills. The 1A learners all showed a growth mindset, repeatedly practising the tricky parts of their swimming movements and cheering on each other’s’ successes.

We are looking forward to our second week of swimming soon, and reflecting on how we have grown and what we have achieved during our Swimming Program!
