During Term 1, students will engage in the following units during Visual Art sessions:

Foundation

Welcome to The Arts. Foundation students will work their way into the Arts by exploring ‘The Elements of Art’- The building blocks of Art. They will explore and create ‘Line Monsters’ during the coming weeks. To create their Line Monsters, we kindly ask all students to please supply a Coles or Woolworths reusable grocery paper bag and bring it to school for some Art FUN!

Year 1/2’s: Year 1 students will work their way into the Arts by exploring ‘The Elements of Art’- Students will explore the Colour Wheel. Students will consolidate their understanding of Primary, Secondary and Complementary colours. Students will make a ‘Colour Wheel Eye’. Additionally, Grade 2 students will be challenged to further their understanding of colour by learning about ‘Monochromatic, Neutral, Analogous’ colours and more.

Year 3/4’s: Year 3 and 4 students will work their way into the Arts by exploring ‘The Elements of Art’- Students will explore the works of the famous artist ‘Kandinsky’. Students will employ their knowledge and understanding of colour to make Kandinsky inspired trees.

Year 5/6's: Year 5 and 6 students will work their way into the Arts by exploring ‘The Elements of Art’- Students will explore the seven elements of Art. Colour, Line, Shape, Value, Form, Space and Texture. Students will then use their knowledge of the skills and concepts explored to create ‘Element of Art inspired Hands’.

Please ensure your child brings to school an art smock. Art smocks need to be clearly labelled with the child's NAME for use on the days that they have art. In order to protect and keep  our school uniform clean, this is essential. Please keep an eye on the newsletter for items the art room would like to receive as donations.

On behalf of Ms. Mizzi, Miss. N, and Ms. O’Dowd,

We look forward to a wonderful year in The Arts.
