Physical Education

This term in PE we've had the district swimming and just last Friday, students from Weeden Heights represented the school in the division swimming.

All the students that participated tried their hardest and gave it their best shot. These sports days are not about outcome for us, they are all about being good sports, giving it a go and having fun while doing it.  I was impressed with each of the students that participated  because of  your determination and all the hard work that went into the division swimming. You should all be so proud of yourselves. Well done Weeden Heights!

The Arts

Grade 5/6:

SAKG

Big thank you to Marie from Bunnings Vermont South who donated seedlings, herbs, soil cane mulch and her time to demonstrate how to plant some fresh vegetables for our garden.

5/6S working together in the kitchen to make pestos and dips to share.

STEAM

Using creative thinking and team work students in 5/6A are working on inventions that will make our lives easier!

French

  • Prep/Grade 1: The students are starting to learn the names of 10 French vegetables. They really enjoy playing games online to memorise the words.
  •  Grade 2:

The students have finished their beautiful drawings of Notre-Dame cathedral:

They regularly practice their greetings with the help of our adorable French puppets:

  • Grades 3/4: The students are studying the childhood of Marie Curie. They found out about her family tree and will draw their own soon. Our grammar focus is on articles 'his', 'her' and 'my'.
  • Grades 5/6:

A fun way to learn new vocabulary is by playing the Game of Goose. Last week, we played it with a twist. The students were given a list of French vocabulary. To be able to move forward on the board and get extra Dojo points, they had to match a French word with its English translation. They did really well!
