Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

This week's Science Incursion, provided a range of new experiences and learning opportunities for students in Years 3-6. While students in Year 3 had the opportunity to build and launch some rockets, students in Years 4-6 expanded their understanding of just how vast the solar system is, and how robotics are being used in space exploration.  Our thanks to Emma and Tom, from the Victorian Space Science Education Centre, for providing our students with this valuable learning opportunity.

On Wednesday, students in Prep-6 had their first of four Athletics Clinics with Steph.  The clinics, which have been funded through Sporting Schools funding, are designed to build specific skills in all areas of Athletics.  During the term, in PE with Dave, students are also learning games and participating in activities which reinforce the skills and techniques used in Athletics.

Tomorrow, a number of our students in Years 3-6 will participate in the Falls Creek Victorian Interschools MTB event. Good luck to all those students who are attending and thank you to families for their support.  If your child is attending, please ensure you have registered them here.  Please note that Nicole, will be our school's point of contact on the day.

We really appreciate the support given by our local community and, this week, we had some volunteer help to fix the oval fence and gate.   Thank you!  It is great to have this fixed and the gate is working better than ever with its new jockey wheel!

The 2024 School Council elections have now closed.  Thank you and congratulations to new and returning School Council members; Jess, Liz, Ellen, Nicole, Duanne and Heath. Please note that we still have some vacancies on School Council.  If you could please consider nominating for School Council, it would be greatly appreciated.  To nominate, please the  complete the form here.

Reminder: Next week, we will be holding Parent Teacher conferences. Families are able to book a meeting time, via Compass, so please check 'Conferences' in the app.

A big thank you to our local Red Cross branch for for their ongoing support with Breakfast Club.   We really appreciate their support and the connection they provide between the school and broader community.

This Saturday, 2nd March, families have an opportunity to learn about how they can support our local native wildlife by helping to monitor platypus numbers.  For more information, and to register your attendance, please click here.
