Book Club

Thank you to everyone who ordered books through our recent Book Club. We had lots of orders which arrived at school on Monday. You should have your order at home by now and I hope that you are all enjoying the books that you purchased. If you have any questions about the delivery, feel free to contact me.

The books in the photo below were purchased with the book rewards that were earned when you purchased. It is a terrific way for us to replenish and renew our library collection.

A great big thank you for your help.

Participation in Library Sessions

One of the fabulous opportunities your child has at Greenvale Primary School is access to a large and varied library. We have over 30,000 resources which includes picture books, non-fiction, fiction, graphic novels, teaching resources (for staff), and child development books (for parents). Our collection is diverse with a range of books from traditional Enid Blyton books, amazing and meaningful picture books, modern non-fiction books, an increasing range of the popular Graphic Novels, as well as a new section of Narrative Non-Fiction which are books with a story as well as information.

Students need to come to their weekly library session with their library bag and their library books. We have spare library bags for people who have lost their bags, but you can use any bag you have at home – a shopping bag, a pillowcase, a tote bag.  We encourage students to borrow for pleasure reading. Reading books that are of interest to them which could be picture books, non-fiction, or a big novel, encourages further reading.  Coming to library is part of our curriculum and we expect students to participate.

After all – to be a better reader, we need to read as much as we possibly can.

A Love of books is the best of all.”—Jacqueline Kennedy
