MATHLETICS

Year 7- 9 students are using Mathletics as part of our mathematics program this year. Mathletics is a targeted, rewarding and captivating online learning resource, which is aligned to curriculum standards. To log in, use the Mathletics app or you can go to https://www.mathletics.com.au and click ‘Sign In’.  

Each week students have assigned tasks to completed as homework. The extra Mathletics practice at home can make all the difference to your child’s progress.  Encourage them to achieve a weekly target of 1000 points to earn a certificate, building through bronze, silver and gold across the school year. Go for gold!

 

Learning Growth Certificates:

Learning growth certificates are awarded to the highest learning growth for each topic.  This encourages students in develop a growth mindset.

  2. Desmos (https://www.desmos.com/): Desmos is a graphing calculator that can help students visualize and explore mathematical concepts. It's great for graphing functions and exploring geometry.
  3. Wolfram Alpha (https://www.wolframalpha.com/): Wolfram Alpha is a powerful computational engine that can solve math problems, plot graphs, and provide step-by-step solutions to various math queries.   
  4. Brilliant (https://brilliant.org/): Brilliant offers interactive courses and quizzes in mathematics and science. It's a platform for students to challenge themselves with complex problems.    
  5. Purplemath (https://www.purplemath.com/): Purplemath provides clear explanations and practice problems for algebra concepts. It's particularly useful for high school algebra students.
  6. Coolmath.com (https://www.coolmath.com/): Coolmath.com offers fun and interactive math games and puzzles that can make learning math more enjoyable for students.    
  7. Math is Fun (https://www.mathsisfun.com/): This website provides a variety of math resources, including explanations, worksheets, and interactive activities for different math topics.
  8. MIT OpenCourseWare - Highlights for High School (https://ocw.mit.edu/high-school/): MIT offers free course materials for high school students, including video lectures and assignments on advanced math topics.   
  9. IXL Math (https://www.ixl.com/math/): IXL offers a comprehensive curriculum for math practice, covering various grade levels and topics.    
  10. GeoGebra (https://www.geogebra.org/): GeoGebra is a dynamic mathematics software that combines geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics, and calculus. It's great for exploring mathematical concepts visually.
