Our students are tracking well working towards their first assessments in English.
In preparation for their upcoming text response at the end of Week 7, Year 8 students have been immersed in the novel 'Runner' by Robert Newton.
Through a comprehensive approach, students have actively engaged in various activities to deepen their understanding of the text.
Rotations have allowed them to explore different facets of the novel, from character profiles to chapter summaries, providing a holistic view of the narrative.
In addition, students have honed their writing skills by preparing contentions, structuring body paragraphs, and embedding quotes effectively. These preparatory exercises have equipped them with the tools necessary to craft insightful and well-supported responses to the text. By immersing themselves in the world of 'Runner' and engaging in rigorous analysis and writing practice in their rotations.
The Year 8 cohort our ready to showcase their comprehension and critical thinking in the upcoming text response.
Our VCE Year 12 students have participated in a series of mini-lessons, writing workshops and activities to prepare them for Reading and Responding SAC on Trevor Noah's 'Born a Crime'. They have been actively involved in various writing tasks and Socratic seminars exploring the views and values conveyed in the text. To reinforce their understanding, students recently conducted a 'teach the class' session, where they led a detailed examination of a theme in preparation for responding to prompts in their SAC.
Please see below the resources students developed to support their teaching sessions.
