John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Families

As we approach the South West Head of the River next Saturday, 16 March, we are thrilled to report that our rowers are making excellent progress. Their dedication is evident as they diligently prepare for the first regatta of the season, training rigorously in various crew combinations and boat classes. This varied preparation strategy embodies our philosophy of 'Any seat, any boat, any time,' ensuring our athletes are versatile, adaptable, and ready for the challenges that lie ahead in the competition.

We would like to remind all rowers, both male and female, of the compulsory boat loading scheduled for Friday morning, 15 March. This is a critical part of our preparation, and full attendance is essential to ensure a smooth and efficient process. Let's continue to support each other and look forward to making a strong start to the season.

2024 Registrations

For our younger students in Years 7 and 8, it's exciting to note that Learn to Row programs will be held in Semester Two and registrations for those programs will begin from next term.

For those in Years 9 to 12, it's not too late to join the John XXIII Rowing Club for the 2024 season. Whether you're new to rowing, interested in becoming a coxswain, or looking to represent our school, we warmly invite you to become part of our rowing community.

Please don't hesitate to register and become a part of our proud rowing tradition by completing the online Registration Form available via the link below. Here's to a season of growth, teamwork, and success on the water!

Can all rowers please drop off their rowing caps at the Uniform Shop by no later than Friday, 22 March. If you miss this cut-off, the next opportunity for embroidery will be at the end of the season.

Finding balance: How to navigate the demands of high school and come out smiling

Secondary schooling can place extraordinary demands on a young person's time. This can result in students choosing to pursue study and academic success to the exclusion of all other activities. But is this the best way to go about it? Join Beth O’Regan as we explore the different factors that contribute to both wellbeing and academic success, and how to navigate these to find a balance between the two.

Presenter: Beth O’Regan (BA, BPsych, GradDipEd, ProfCertPosEd, MBusPsych)

Beth O’Regan has extensive experience working as a psychologist across both the public and private education sectors, and in private practice. She is passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing at both an individual and a group level, to help people, families, workplaces and communities be the best they can be.
