FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Term 3 - Week 2
Welcome to Week 2.
Grandparent Days
The date for Grandparents day is always marked in our school calendar very early in the year, by both our families and staff. It is one of our highlights as we progress through the school year. Last Friday’s weather failed to dampen any enthusiasm, and the turnout was quite remarkable.
Thank you to our grandparents for the role they play in our students' lives. I trust they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren on Friday in our students' learning environment.
NAIDOC Week
On Monday we commenced a week-long celebration of our Indigenous culture. A culture, regardless of our heritage, we can be proud of and commit to learning more about.
The NAIDOC 2024 theme – Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud – celebrates the unyielding spirit of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and invites us to not only stand in solidarity, but amplify our voices for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Thank you to Mr Trevor French for his organisation of what promises to be a wonderful week.
NESA Accreditation Audit
Today St Nicholas School was audited by the Armidale Catholic Schools Office, representing the New South Wales Education Authority as part of our 5 year cyclical registration.
As principal of St Nicholas, it is pleasing to view the audit as a straightforward compliance checklist which the school will pass with flying colours. More pleasing however, is the culture we have established at St Nicholas in regards to our high expectations resulting in any audit being recognised as a minimal standard, nowhere near the standard we hold ourselves to every day.
Have a great week.
