CAMP

The excitement is beginning to build for our exciting camp coming up in Week 7 (Monday 26th - Wednesday 28th). This week we will be sending two documents home in preparation:

  • Camp medical forms - this is to provide us with confidential information about your child to ensure their trip to camp goes smoothly. These forms need to be returned as soon as possible to your classroom teacher please.
  • Camp Packing List - you can find this list attached below for your convenience. We have also provided your child with a hard copy. A friendly reminder that no technology is permitted on camp.

Please also note the following information:

  • If your child is NOT attending Camp, we now need to know ASAP for numbers, ratios and plans for students staying at school. Thank you for your help in this.
  • School hats - on the packing list, we have asked for school hats to be included. These can be sent to school over the next few weeks so we can collect and keep safe. We will check these off, so ASAP would be wonderful.
  • If you haven't already, please pay and sign the permission form on the QKR app. If you need assistance with this, please see the front office.
  • The camp will be a NO technology zone. This is inclusive of phones, smart watches or any device.

If you have ANY questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us via phone, in person or email. We are happy to discuss any queries.

What's happening in the classrooms?

Literacy:

The students have been kept incredibly busy over the past fortnight in all areas of Literacy. We have continued to work on our vocabulary, spelling rules and practising our fluency as we read. This week we have also begun to look at apotrophes and how we use them in contractions. For example, did not can also be expressed as didn't using an apostrophe. We continued with our letter writing and in our next edition we will showcase what we have done! Throughout Week 3 and going into next week, we have been looking at fact files surrounding the Olympics. The students have LOVED this and learning facts about the various Olympic sports!

Numeracy:

This week, our students have been working on challenging word problems involving addition and subtraction. I will not lie, this has been a challenge! And challenge is okay, it is part of being a mathematician! Our students have shown some great resilience at solving problems, working through the CUBES acronym (see below) and using a strategy to work out a problem. Some of the problems tripped our students up as they involved more than one step! Next week we will tie in the Olympics again by looking at statistics, collating data and expressing it in graphs!

Inquiry:

You may have heard that we have started the POTATO OLYMPICS this week! We will take this into next week as well and will share a special report with you next Connect. To say the kids have loved this would be an understatement! When the games wraps up, we will refocus on our Liquids and Solids unit.

Wellbeing:

Last week we started created our 'Identity Wheels'. These expressed how we are all individuals with different likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses and cultural influences. This understanding about ourselves and each other will be important as we learn about influences from society and how we can treat each other with respect and kindness.

AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE - Green and Gold Day!

An update from the kitchen!

Both 3A and 3B enjoyed the lovely sunshine and spending time in the kitchen and garden. They made pumpkin soup, herb muffins and lemon scones. They mulched, planted raspberries, parsley, tidied the garden, visited the chickens and harvested lemon

Need our emails again? Here they are! Please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
