Gippsland Senior Mixed Hockey 

On Thursday 25th July, the team of 14 travelled to Sale Hockey Complex to take on Drouin Chairo in what was an elimination game. The conditions were cool and overcast, with the 2 sides soon warming up the synthetic field with blistering speed and skilful plays. The majority of our team are seasoned players and adapted well to the game plan scoring three times in the first quarter, 2 by Ayrton and another from Taj. It wasn’t all our way with Drouin pushing us deep quite often, with our defence holding strong on many occasions allowing us to go back and reset. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were played at a phrenetic pace with both teams increasing their bench rotations to stay fresh in the legs longer. With our regular scoring from Taj, Ayrton and Jordan the team found itself with the victory 7 -1 and the opportunity to compete at the State Championships on 23rd of August at the Footscray Hockey Club. 

John, Hayley, Lachlan, Taj, Isabel, Oliver, Juliette, Ayrton, Zak, Noah, Thomas, Osbourne, Andrew and Mitchell should be congratulated on their efforts so far and along with Coach Alex, we wish them good luck in next phase of competition.
