During week 2 on Wednesday, a small group of year 10, 11 and 12 students went to the RAAF Base (Royal Australian Airforce Base) in Sale to get a feel of what it’s like to be a student or worker at the RAAF Base. The staff we met at the base took us around from the fitness gym where we learnt the fitness routine of being in the air force, the uniform with weighted vests and heavy helmets and the weaponries they use such as rifle guns, handguns and self-defence sticks. Then we went to the Air Mission Training School where we learnt all the mission roles and had a go on the plane simulator, which was everyone’s favourite activity. After that, we went to have a look at the technician’s roles and the fire trucks which were both pretty awesome. If the RAAF Base sparks your interest, there is a gap year you can take either in the navy, army or air force after year 12 from ages 17-24 for 12 months, in which you will obtain the opportunity to grow, train, travel, get paid, meet new friends, stay fit and also get a feel of what it's like in the ADF world. Big thanks to Vicky and Miss V for taking us to the RAAF Base to have a new perspective of our career in the future.
