Girls Day Out in STEM: Imagineering Adventure - 10th-18th August
Get your imaginations ready to join Girls Day Out in Stem on their Imagineering Adventure! This National Science Week 2024 sign up for the best metaverse adventure in cyberspace to discover so much more than just sustainability. Take the hero’s path to enter their Imagineer-verse where you get to be the imagineer for a better world! There are heaps of prizes to be won during their Imagineering Adventure – stay tuned about how to get your hands on one of those cool prizes! You could win an iPad from their wonderful friends at Telstra, or the latest and greatest, coolest Ray Ban XR glasses thanks to Meta. The online event can be undertaken independently, with friends or family members, or as a school incursion for your class or even as a club activity. Supporting you in pursuing the best path to study at JCU. Whether you’re not quite on track to get the ATAR you had hoped, or you don’t meet the subject prerequisites for your preferred course, there are various pathway options available to help you get into your dream degree. Join the JCU Pathways team on Thursday 15 August for the Pathways Webinar where they’ll discuss the different study options and support services available, application processes, course credit and much more. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about JCU’s pathway programs. Gaining medical work experience is essential for young people considering a career in medicine. It provides insight into the field, helps develop skills and attributes, and provides networking opportunities. However, obtaining medical work experience can be challenging due to various restrictions such as limited opportunities, safety concerns, and confidentiality issues.
That’s why NIE has developed the “Future Doctors Australia” program. It is an engaging and high-impact 4-day program that provides young people with a unique opportunity to gain medical work experience in a safe and structured environment. Participants will have the opportunity to spend time with current junior and senior medical students. They will also have the rare opportunity to spend time with more senior clinicians and various medical specialists. You will get to learn about clinical specialist’s relevant fields of work, ask them questions, and learn some hands-on skills from them.

Work Experience (WE)/Structured Workplace learning (SWL)/School Based Apprenticeships/Traineeships (SBAT)
Work experience is available to students that are 15 years old+.
SWL is available to students doing a VET Course in their VCE/VM Pathway.
SBAT’s are available to Year 10-12 students through our Headstart Program (Aaron Patten) by application and availability only.

BRHS Work Experience Program 2024 - (year 10-12 students, 15+)
The BRHS Work Experience Program is a three-day program made up of half or full days, from Tuesday to Thursday, in a variety of areas across the health service. The three-day programs are designed to provide Year 10 to 12 students with work experience in several areas to allow a meaningful experience across potential careers in healthcare.

CFA District Mechanical Officer - Work Experience (15+)
East Gippsland Shire Council - Work Experience (15+)
East Gippsland Shire Council (EGSC) would like to extend an offer to students during 2024 to attend their workplace and obtain a career/learning opportunity via the Work Experience/Work Placement Program.
The easiest and most efficient way for EGSC to process any application requests is for the students to complete an application form and return it to hrtraining@egipps.vic.gov.au
They will then advise within one week, whether the business unit has capacity to accept the applicant.
Zoos Victoria - Work Experience (15+)
Zoos Victoria has developed a secondary school work experience program to inspire the next generation of youth to work with wildlife. Each year, a limited number of students are selected to gain experience at one of Victoria’s four zoos: Healesville Sanctuary, Kyabram Fauna Park Melbourne Zoo, or Werribee Open Range Zoo. Students finish the week with a deeper appreciation of wildlife, the environment we share with them, and how each role within the organisation works towards conservation. Who is eligible?
Victorian secondary students aged over 15 years are eligible for the program. We celebrate diversity and strive to be inclusive in everything we do. Students with diverse abilities are encouraged to apply. School Careers Coordinators can only endorse one student per school. Please note - Kyabram Fauna Park is the only property that accepts multiple students per school (per term).
Application timelines
The online applications for 2025 Secondary School Work Experience placements are now open and will close at 5.00pm Sunday 15th September 2024. As each school can only submit one application per property, applications must be submitted to Careers by Friday 6th September, to give us time to go through the applications.

Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) - Work Experience (Year 11 & 12 students)
The ASD work experience program is for Year 11–12 students at the Australian Cyber Security Centre. The program focuses on students who are considering further studies in a STEM-related field. The week-long program offers you an opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills through practical challenges. Students who enjoy discovering how technology works are considered favourably over those who use technology. All placements are in Canberra. Students from interstate are encouraged to apply. Interstate students will receive assistance with travel (transportation) costs. Interstate students are responsible for their own accommodation.

Tata Consultancy Services' (TCS) - goIT Girls (Female students, years 10 and 11, 15+)
goIT Girls work experience program is challenging stereotypes and inspiring women in STEM. The week-long program will have students learn all about the growing number of jobs available in fields of STEM as problem solvers and technology professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with and be mentored by inspiring senior executives from the tech industry. They are empowering students in Australia and New Zealand with the skills they need to be ready for the workplace of the future. The aim is to provide insight into the technology industry and challenge gender as well as occupational stereotypes.

National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) - Work Experience 2025 (15+)
The National Gallery of Victoria offers work experience placements for secondary school students. Placements are based with the NGV Learn Team and where possible with other Departments. Work experience in any one facet of the NGV cannot be guaranteed. Unfortunately, numbers are limited, and they cannot guarantee a placement for all applicants.
The NGV offers work experience during the following week in 2025: Monday 23 – Friday 27 June 2025. Applications for 2025 Work Experience placements are now open and will close 5pm, 01 September 2024. All applicants will be notified by mid-November.
Cadetship opportunity for First Peoples Youth at Museums Victoria
Museums Victoria is offering a Cadetship Program for First Peoples youth aged 16 – 22. The opportunity is open to those in year 10, 11 or 12, or those who have completed/left secondary education. This program offers a unique chance to gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and explore a diverse range of career pathways within Museums Victoria. These opportunities are available across all their venues, including Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and the Immigration Museum.
The cadetship program will be tailored to the specific interests and needs of each cadet, offering experiences ranging from sciences and technology to media and communications. This will allow First Peoples youth to explore existing interests and discover new and exciting career paths all while developing their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
