MIDDLE School

Dear Parents/Carers and Students

Year 10 Work Experience

During the last last week of Term 2, our Year 10 students participated in the Work Experience Program. We were very proud of how our students conducted themselves during the week and were pleased to receive a number of positive endorsements from employers across our community. Congratulations to our Year 10 students!

Year 9 Discovery Week

During the final week of Term 2, Year 9 students participated in Discovery Week. Throughout this week they were exposed to a variety of activities focused on developing key skills such as team building, school and community culture, mental health awareness and responsible citizenship. Some of the programs run included Speak Share, the Pat Cronin Foundation, Courage to Care, the Youth Bus, Living Cultures as well as a City Day! The following are reflections from some wonderful Year 9 Students:

I think the best part about discovery week was the house competition, it was fun to compete in our house colours and overcome fun challenges as a group. My favourite activity was the tug ‘o’ war, all the teams had a lot of strength and my team – YAWA, won the second round. I think overall, this was a great experience – Bella Wingate

Our favourite part about discovery week was the City Day. It was fun to navigate to the different locations around the city and take photos with our friends. It gave us a chance to experience the city by ourselves. It was also really fun to have the day with our friends. - Chelsea Whipp and Eliza Lomax

Our favourite part of discovery week was Youth Bus, as it was a good opportunity to rest and talk to our friends throughout the week. It was a much more relaxing activity as we weren’t required to concentrate on any work, and we were able to talk to the Youth Workers and make stamps etc. – Ruby Varney and Amber Howes

I think that the City Day was my favourite part of Discovery Week because it was a nice break from the 10 weeks of normal school. It was also fun going around parts of the city that I haven't seen before and revisiting those I have. - Toby Robertson

During Discovery Week the thing I most enjoyed was the archery as throughout the week we talked about and viewed quite a lot of heavy topics and I think it was a good way to relax and unwind. - Harry Warrior

Our highlight of the week was the youth bus. It was so fun making the badges and talking to the people there. It was fun to have a bit of free time and just chill out. - Mabel Daniel, Issy Hogan and Hayley Porter

Uniform Expectations

I would like to remind all students of our uniform expectations. Wearing the correct uniform not only represents our school with pride but also ensures a cohesive and respectful learning environment.

All students are expected to comply with the Schools Uniform Policy, which can be found on the school website. This includes wearing the winter school uniform as it is intended to be worn with the white shirt to be worn and collars to be visible. No pyjama pants under the skirt, no jewelry, no excessive make-up and/or accessories are to be worn to school. Students who have a legitimate reason for being out of uniform must provide a parent/carer note to explain the reason to the coordinators in the morning before classes commence to collect a Uniform Pass.

If you have any questions about the uniform policy, please speak with a member of the Middle School Coordinators.

Have a wonderful break over the term 2 school holidays.
