SENIOR School
Dear Parents/Carers and Students
It is lovely seeing our Year 11 and 12 students back at school for Term 3, the last full term of secondary school studies for our Class of 2024. Students have recommenced their Unit 2 (Year 11) and Unit 4 (Year 12) studies positively making good use of their study periods and supportive teachers. Term 3 will be a busy term for our staff and students as the Year 12 finish Unit 4 and start preparing for their end-of-year examinations and our Year 11 students confirm their 2025 programs, partake in various incursions and excursions including the Central Australia Tour for 80 students.
I would like to take a moment to thank our Year 11 and 12 teachers for their efforts throughout Unit 1 and 3 of Semester 1. We have an excellent teaching faculty that go above and beyond to support our students to achieve their personal best. In addition to this, is the collaborative efforts of the Senior Team inclusive of the Senior Wellbeing Team and Careers Team. 100 Days and 100 Years of VCE Success

To recognise the theme of 100 years, students and staff dressed as centenarians and participated in a range of activities inspired by history.
Revision Workshops
At this time of year, it is worthwhile for our students studying a Unit 3 and 4 study to consider attending some revision workshops run by external providers. Our Frankston High School staff will run revision class, particularly during the Exam Revision week (Tuesday 22 October – Friday 25 October), however it can be of benefit to extend and diversify their study practice by seeking further revision opportunities. Subject teachers will have recommendations of particular companies that students are encouraged to explore.
Students are asked to double check their September Practice Exam schedule to avoid double bookings.

Careers Education – Year 11
During Term 3, as part of the Agency Curriculum, students will be completing Course Selection activities. This will provide them with the time and support to complete their Career Action Plans, check prerequisite study requirements, explore Open Days, the Frankston High School Career Website, revisit their Morrisby Profile and enter their Course Selections via Edval. As part of this process, on Monday 5 August our Year 11 students are not required onsite for their Unit 2 classes to enable them to undertake course selection and career planning activities. Year 11 students undertaking a Unit 4 subject will be required to attend their Year 12 class.
Year 11 families have their Course Confirmation Interviews on either Monday 12 or Wednesday 14 August. Students have been assigned a Course Counsellor. Families may now book their interview via Compass Conferences. Parents/carers are strongly encouraged to attend this interview. Outside of their interview times, students attend normal scheduled classes across these days.
Year 12 Course Counselling and Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) and Special Entry Access Schemes (SEAS) applications
Throughout the year, Year 12 students have been engaging in course counselling conversations with the knowledgeable and passionate Careers Practitioner Mrs Sharon Bourne. These interviews will continue across Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students are encouraged to access the extensive resources accessible through Compass- News Feed and the Frankston High School Careers Website. The careers website can also be accessed via Compass favourites tab. Students are also encouraged to attend Open Days – Mrs Bourne has provided a list of the open days to students via their Year 12 Voice mentoring classes, Compass – News Feed, Careers Newsletters. Students have also been encouraged to explore the early entry programs offered by a range of institutions, and where eligible and appropriate, apply for these programs. The Early Entry Program information booklet can be found on Compass-News Feed and the careers website.
During Term 3, students will be supported by Mrs Bourne, the Careers Team and their Voice Teachers, to apply for further study and completing VTAC applications. Glossary of key terms for Year 12 parents/carers:
- VTAC is the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre: is a service that facilitates access to tertiary education and further study for our students in Victoria and beyond. They manage the applications, Special Entry Access Scheme and Scholarships. How to apply link: How to apply (vtac.edu.au)
- Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS): covers a range of access and equity programs offered by different institutions. It is a single application that is sent to all of the courses students apply for. It helps institutions understand the full potential of a student by considering the circumstances they have experience. It allows institutions to grant special considerations for course entry, however it does not exempt them from meeting the institutional and course requirements. How does SEAS work video: https://vtac.edu.au/access/seas#seasvideo
- Scholarships: are awarded for many reasons including financial disadvantage, difficult circumstances, the need to relocate to study, Indigenous Australians, community service and academic merit. Students can apply for scholarships through VTAC, through the institute they are applying to and the department.
VTAC run webinars for students (and their families) to support students to navigate the application system. Please register for these webinars. Please note that this is the same information which has been provided previously on our Careers Newsletters.

Uniform Expectations
I would like to remind all students of our uniform expectations. Wearing the correct uniform not only represents our school with pride but also ensures a cohesive and respectful learning environment.
All students are expected to comply with the Schools Uniform Policy, which can be found on the school website. This includes wearing the winter school uniform as it is intended to be worn with the white shirt to be worn and collars to be visible. No pyjama pants under the skirt, no jewelry, no excessive make-up and/or accessories are to be worn to school. Students who have a legitimate reason for being out of uniform must provide a parent/carer note to explain the reason to the coordinators in the morning before classes commence to collect a Uniform Pass.
If you have any questions about the uniform policy, please speak with a member of the Senior School Coordinators.
Ms Tiffany Greenhill
Campus Principal
