PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
- Reports will be sent home via Sentral. We are still waiting for some families to connect to Sentral. Hopefully this will be resolved this week.
- School photos have been scheduled for Wednesday this week. Students have been asked to wear Winter uniform. Parents will be asked for feedback at the end of the process.
- Canteen tender - process has been successfully completed for the next tender. KT’s Healthy Bites will run the canteen from July.
- Question about online ordering and current credit held by Flexischools. KT Healthy Bites uses My School Connect for online payment. Ms Bentley to meet with Katie and ensure information will be sent out to families before the end of term. The office is awaiting a call from Flexi School regarding advice for families who have credit attached to accounts.
- Changes to staffing - Sophie is filling a temporary contract and the Department has activated the process of advertising for a permanent position. Applications will close this Friday and a panel has been assembled.
- Deputy Principal position - school has been decreasing in size due to out of area enrolments policy. The school no longer meets the number of enrolments for a deputy principal.
- Behaviour management - New school behaviour support and management policy was released in March this year. Stronger focus on restorative practices which is an area for teaching staff to upskill. This will be a focus for the upcoming school development day. Student forums will also be held along with parent survey so that all major stakeholders have a say in the process.
- Professional learning is available for staff to access to promote positive behaviour at school.
Fathers Day Stall
- Request for a $4000 budget was approved by the meeting.
- Discussion regarding forming a group who will select the Father’s Day gifts.
Disco
- A budget of $1000 was approved for the disco. The disco will be discussed at the next meeting.
General Business
- Positive feedback regarding the Athletics Carnival. More students were participating than in previous years. The staff who ran Athletics Program ran the discus and shot put which took pressure of staff and assisted with organisation. The increased participation resulted in more Heats, however, there were a few finals that were not able to be run due to time constraints. The program followed by the school was based on the program followed at higher levels. The parent support was excellent. Eight GRC Peakhurst PASS students assisted at the carnival and they were very helpful.
- Discussion about School Bytes and the benefit of providing consent online. The information is easy to read and the connection between consent and payment is quite useful. The aim is to get all notes online, however, at present some notes for smaller events are still being sent home via paper copies. The school is still working on creating clear processes and learning all of the functionality of School Bytes. The goal is to have all permission notes on School Bytes.
UPCOMING MEETINGS:
The next P&C meeting will take place on 5 August 2024 by Zoom from 7pm to 8pm. A notice will be placed in Sentral.
MEETING CLOSED: 7:47pm
