Year 2 Share Our Learning Afternoon

At our Year 2 Open Afternoon last Thursday, students proudly shared their published poetry with families. The children showcased their creativity through beautifully decorated couplets, quatrains and list poems. Each piece highlighted their growing understanding of rhythm, rhyme and word choice. Parents and carers enjoyed listening to the students read their poems aloud and were able to see just how much progress they have made as writers this term.
Alongside their poetry, students also presented their summative assessment from our unit of inquiry into forces. Working collaboratively in pairs, they designed and created model playgrounds featuring at least three different pieces of play equipment. Each model was carefully labelled with the type of force (push or pull) and, where relevant, the name of the simple machine such as a lever or incline.
It was wonderful to see so many family members - parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles - attend the afternoon and celebrate the students’ learning achievements together.
