It has been another big week at FNPS with multiple events taking place. Can you believe we are already halfway through Term 3!
A friendly reminder that this Friday, the 29th of August, is a student-free day. TheirCare will be operating a care program on that day.
Last week, our school was filled with excitement as we celebrated Book Week with a vibrant parade, where students proudly dressed up as their favourite book characters. Throughout the day, students engaged in cross-class activities inspired by the shortlisted CBCA books, collaborating on a range of art, STEM, and writing tasks. It was a wonderful celebration of literature that brought our school community together and highlighted the joy of reading.
As part of our Book Week celebrations, students enjoyed visits from two incredible creators. Sue deGennaro worked with our Prep - Year 2 students, sharing her illustration process and guiding them to create several beautiful drawings during the session. Felice Arena captivated our Year 3 - 6 students with a highly engaging presentation, taking them through his writing process and inspiring them as young authors. These sessions were a fantastic opportunity for students to learn directly from talented professionals and deepen their love for reading and storytelling.
Congratulations to all our talented students who represented our school at the Tournament of Minds competition over the weekend! This exciting event challenges students to work collaboratively in teams to solve complex, open-ended problems in areas such as STEM, Language Literature, The Arts, and Social Sciences, showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. We are especially proud of our Language Literature team, who impressed the judges with their innovative solutions and have earned a place in the State Finals in three weeks’ time. Well done to all participants for their dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm. You represented our school brilliantly!
A big congratulations and thank you to Ben for all his hard work and organisation on another successful athletics carnival. There is a write-up about the day in this week's newsletter.
The Parent Opinion Survey has been emailed to all families and we encourage everyone to take part. This survey is a valuable opportunity for you to share your thoughts and provide feedback on our school. Your input plays an important role in helping us celebrate what’s working well and identify areas for improvement.
The Policy and Curriculum, as well as the Community Engagement sub-committees, are currently looking for parent or carers to join their teams. These sub-committees play an important role in shaping different aspects of school life and are a great way to get involved in the FNPS community. Joining a sub-committee is a meaningful way to contribute without the larger time commitment required for School Council—plus, it’s a great way to connect with other families and staff. If you’re interested, come and chat to Tania or myself, or send us an email.
