Principal's Post

Dear Families,

"The Best Ever" was a phrase used to describe our concert production by a number of guests last Monday and Tuesday night. As a staff member, it's hard to compare them but suffice to say, both nights were extremely entertaining, engaging, full of talent and full of one hundred percent participation.

One of the most satisfying aspects for myself is seeing those students who are reluctant to fully participate in our Performing Arts lessons displaying so much enthusiasm up on stage. Another satisfying aspect is seeing those students with talent and those students who have worked so hard on learning and improving, shine on the night. The complete highlight and proud moment for me is seeing our entire St James community joining together as one to appreciate, celebrate and enjoy each other's company and talents. The preps dancing in the aisles to other classes songs was beautiful to watch!

A big thank you goes to our volunteer parking attendants , especially those who braved the Tuesday night rainy weather.

Copies for the concert can still be ordered via this link

We received an enormous amount of positive feedback. here are a few quotes:

"We just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for such a fantastic school concert.

It was truly entertaining from start to finish, filled with great energy and joy all night long. The way you kept the audience engaged and happy was remarkable."

"Let me congratulate all of you on an excellent concert performance. The production and the organisation was so professional . The children did an amazing job and we were enthralled for the 2.5 hour performance."

"Evening Dave, just wanted to say a massive thank you for the tickets for the concert tonight,we really appreciated it. What an amazing show you all put on tonight the girls and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the kids and staff should be very proud of themselves. It was so good to come back and say hello to all the staff and families that we still know at St James."

"Hi Dave. Congratulations to you and your brilliant students and staff on a wonderful performance. The joy was contagious! Good on you and keep up the great community spirit."

"I just wanted to congratulate you on another fantastic school production! It was such a beautiful message, and I absolutely loved seeing how happy the students were and how much fun they had on stage. Thank-you. You have created such a wonderful school environment. It really shines through during events like this. A big well done also to all the teachers involved; their effort and care were so evident."

Congratulations Year Six Netballers

Congratulations to our girls netball team who came third in the Regional Tournament last week. While our St James team did not make it through to the state finals, their performance ranks them about 20th out of 2000 schools who entered the competition.

Well done girls! And ... this event was held the Wednesday after our concert production!

Thanks to Catherine Wall and Bec for training and coaching the team.

Congratulations: Willow, Adele, Maddie, Millie, Isla, Elsie, Angelina, Ella and Matisse.

Confirmation Celebration

We pray for and wish our Year six students receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation all the best for this Thursday evening. The celebration will be lead by Bishop Les Tomlinson and Fr Dispin commencing at 6pm at our St John's church.

Bookweek Celebrations

Following our research and investigations two years ago which included consultation with student groups, we will continue with our parade and performance alternating each year.

This year is our performance year and next year is our parade year.

The performance will be on Monday 1 September.

See our Literacy page for further Information about Bookweek.

First Aid Operoo Update

Following a discussion with our First Aid Team and our School Advisory Council, we have decided to make a few changes to our First Aid Operoo and phone communications.

The changes involve the phone calls to parents for students who receive any type of facial or head knock.

The previous system of calling for every type of knock and asking parents to monitor for concussion symptoms will be replaced with additional information on the operoo form indicating to look for possible concussion symptoms.

This is much easier to implement given all parents now receive operoo communication.

We will continue to call parents where there is a significant injury or students are required to be collected from school.

Of course we will continue to provide the best possible care for all students who present to first aid.

Learning Conferences

Learning Conferences will be on the following days in the last week of school.

Thurs 18 Sep - Final Day of Term 3 for students followed by Learning Conferences 3:30- 7pm

Fri 19 Sep - Learning Conferences 8:30-11:30am - No classes for students

Booking information will be sent out to families over the coming weeks, so please look out for these details.
