Term 3 Week 5 Year 2 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We have had a fantastic start to the term and cannot believe we are half way through term 3 already!
Upcoming excursion
Wednesday 3rd September - Healesville Sanctuary Excursion (please give consent via compass)
Book Day
The students had a wonderful time celebrating Book Day today, coming along in some very creative costumes. We began the day with a lively parade in Session 1, where everyone had the chance to showcase their favourite book characters. Later, the students took part in engaging group activities themed around Book Day.
What have we been up to in the classroom?
Maths
In Maths, we have continued our unit on multiplication and division, exploring how to use repeated addition, repeated subtraction, and arrays to represent these operations.
Inquiry
We had a fantastic Billy Cart incursion in week 3. Students demonstrated impressive team work skills as well as challenged themselves to create some interesting mini cars as well as lots of fun driving around Billy Carts in teams. This incursion was enjoyed by all and was a wonderful way to link design concepts to collaborative team building.
Writing
We have completed our unit on Autobiographies and the students did a great job on these. We are now starting to explore Information Reports and their features.
Homework- ‘Playing a game with my family or friends’.
These sheets are due back at school from week 5 (this week), please see the class’ Show and Tell roster to see when your child will be presenting their work.
Winter Illness Reminder
Term 3 is often the cold and flu season with coughs and colds moving through the year level. Please keep your children at home if they are feeling unwell to prevent the spread as much as possible.
Have a great week,
The Year 2 Team.
