Athletics Day – A Celebration of Sport and Inclusion
Our recent Athletics Day was a huge success, blessed with perfect weather and a fantastic turnout from students, staff, and families. The sunny skies and light breeze set the scene for a day full of energy, friendly rivalry, and community spirit.
Adding to the carnival atmosphere, our Vocational Major class hosted a range of novelty events, including the classic egg-and-spoon race, the three-legged race, and a spirited tug-of-war. These events were not just for fun—points earned counted towards each house’s overall score, adding extra excitement to the competition and bringing the house standings closer than ever.
The inclusion of the novelty events was aimed at encouraging participation from all students, regardless of athletic ability, and in that goal, the day was a resounding success. It was fantastic to see so many students giving it a go, sharing laughs, and supporting one another.
In the end, after a tightly contested day, Murray House claimed victory in a nail-biting finish. Congratulations to all competitors for their effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Athletics Day truly showcased the best of our school—teamwork, fun, and inclusivity—and we can’t wait to build on this success next year.
We want our Parents/Caregivers/Guardians to tell us what they think!
Our School is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our School will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday, 18th August to Friday, 19th September, 2025.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to the school directly for survey guides in your language. Last year we used the survey results to plan school initiatives to make KTHS a more inclusive school with a focus on student wellbeing and student engagement.
Student Teachers.
This week we welcomed Damian Hivon to the school who is completing his Master of Education focusing on English and Drama. Next week we welcome Sydonny Fry who is working with the SOSE and Health PE domains.
Both are completing a five-week placement and we are excited to have them here.
Placement is an important part of their learning as they get exposed to what it is really like to be working in a school. KTHS is a great school and place to start giving the student teachers a taste of the dynamic environment that schools are. Welcome to Mr Hivon and Ms Fry.
