Survey

This week, I emailed a survey link to our Year 12 families to gather feedback on all aspects of the College. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete, and your input is important to us as we continue to strive for improvement. If you are a Year 12 parent and have not yet completed the survey, please take a few moments to do so. Next term, the same survey will be made available for parents of Year 10 and 11 students.

Year 12

Speaking of Year 12s, please note that while their official last day is at the end of Week Two next term, there is an opportunity for students to leave earlier if they have completed all aspects of their program. More details about Year 12 finishing arrangements are provided elsewhere.

We ask parents to once again speak with their son or daughter about maintaining cooperative and appropriate behaviour during these final weeks. We understand that Year 12s are eager to finish school, and we want to ensure nothing spoils their final experience. Staff are working hard to ensure all Year 12s complete the maximum number of qualifications, and we need students to help us, help them.

Horticulture

This week I watched a crew of students in the Horticulture area demonstrating fantastic teamwork as they graded, cleaned, waxed and packed Mystique mandarins to prepare them for the Perth markets.

While on the subject of Horticulture, I must commend the amazing work by Rob Morris in renovating the hot house and greenhouse frames.

Our plan for the hot house is to significantly scale up our hydroponics so that we can supply the kitchen year-round and give students experience with covered cropping systems.

In the greenhouse, we plan to propagate our own vegetable seedlings, native species for revegetation projects, and chrysanthemums for cut flowers.

The horticulture section has been undergoing renovations for the past couple of years, and I am pleased to see some projects coming to fruition (please pardon the pun!). Matt Olde and Shaun Lawrence are doing some fantastic work down there.

Best wishes for all the fathers on Sunday.

Have a great weekend
