Student Engagement Report

Student Engagement Update
Looking Back on a Busy and Rewarding Term 3.
As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, it is always a great opportunity to reflect on the many achievements and experiences our students have been part of.
We began the term by recognising student excellence at our Awards Assemblies, where Semester 1 commitment and achievements of so many were celebrated by the school community.
Our VM students contributed to sustainability efforts with a meaningful tree planting initiative, leaving a positive legacy for years to come. They also were able to showcase their hard work through the school’s first VM Showcase.
This term has been an opportunity for students to be engaged in a variety of enriching incursions and excursions in Term 3.
- The Year 11 Food Studies class enjoyed a tour experience at the Langham Hotel, gaining valuable insights into hospitality at its finest.
- Year 11 and Year 12 VCD students connected their studies with art and culture at the National Gallery of Victoria excursion.
- All Year 11 students also participated in the Fit to Drive program, building their understanding of road safety.
- Year 11 students also enjoyed an inspiring University Day Out to explore future pathways.
All Year 10, 11 and 12 students engaged in a RRRR lesson for Drugs, Alcohol and Vaping.
A pivotal, educational focus for Term 3 has been course counselling for 2026. We welcomed our new families from our Precinct Partnership Schools to attend a Parent Information Evening and a course counselling interview to support students and their families with selecting their Year 10 program for 2025.
Our current Year 10 and Year 11 students also met with a member of leadership to discuss course counselling options and subject preferences for 2026.
Our Year 12 students have now completed their final SACs and moved into the important stage of trial examinations, a vital step in preparing for their final Unit 3 and 4 VCAA examinations in term 4.
We are proud of how our students have embraced every opportunity to grow both academically and personally this term.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and most importantly, our students, for making this term such a success.
We look forward to an equally exciting, productive and busy final term of the year ahead.
Warm regards,
Tim Harris

Year 12 Student Manager Update
Term 3 has been an incredibly busy and rewarding time for our Year 12 cohort. Students have taken part in a wide range of activities designed to support both their academic and personal growth. A highlight of the term was our Careers Expo, where students had the opportunity to explore future study and work pathways and gain valuable insights into the options available to them after secondary school. In addition, every student has had the opportunity to meet with Mitch to discuss their individual pathways and receive personalised guidance about their next steps beyond Year 12.
As we approach the end of the term, the focus now shifts towards preparing for the Trial Exams. These exams are an important opportunity for students to practise under exam conditions and identify areas for further improvement ahead of the final VCAA exams.
Looking ahead to Term 4, we have two exciting events still to come — Celebration Day and Valedictory. These will be fantastic opportunities for students to come together, celebrate their achievements, and mark the conclusion of their secondary school journey.
Finally, we want to wish all students the very best with their trial exams. Please take some time over the holidays to rest and recharge, while also maintaining a steady level of preparation to ensure confidence going into the final weeks of Year 12.
Warm regards,
Ben Jackson

Year 11 Student Manager Update
We have had a very successful and busy Term 3. Our Year 11 students have engaged in incursions, excursions and finalising their course counselling for 2026.
Fit to Drive Incursion
In Week 4, our Year 11 students participated in the Fit to Drive program—an engaging and informative session focused on road safety. The program was delivered by local police officers and community representatives, outlining the importance of safe driving behaviours, road etiquette, and real-life case studies that highlighted the importance of making responsible choices behind the wheel. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, encouraging students to ask questions and reflect on how to stay safe on the road.
University Day Excursion
Year 11 students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit both RMIT University and the University of Melbourne as part of our University Day excursion. Students attended presentations and enjoyed guided tours of various campus areas, gaining valuable insights into university life and future study pathways. It was a rewarding day that inspired many students to start thinking more deeply about their post-secondary options.
Course Counselling
A big congratulations to all Year 11 students for successfully completing course counselling! With your Year 12 subjects now selected, you are well on your way to entering your final year in 2026 with focus, purpose, and a clear direction to complete your Victorian Certificiate of Education or Victorian Certificiate of Education Vocational Major.
Student Achievements
We started Term 3 with an awards assembly to celebrate those Year 11 students nominated by their teachers for the Highest Achiever and Highest Progress.
Furthermore, we celebrated individual awards for Trung Lu Awards, One Wyndham Award and the Young Endeavour Youth Development Scheme.
Gabriella Boukouvalas and Mahlaqa Shah were recently awarded the Trung Lu Awards, recognising their exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies.
Mahlaqa Shah was also honoured with the One Wyndham Award, a prestigious recognition of her outstanding contributions and positive impact both within the school and in the wider community.
Raykant Gumber has been selected to participate in the Young Endeavour Youth Development Scheme—a fantastic opportunity to sail on a tall ship, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and gain insights into life in the Australian Defence Force.
We are incredibly proud of all our students and their achievements and are looking forward to supporting you all to finalise your Unit 2 subjects and transition towards your Year 12 Unit 3 and 4 studies in Term 4.
Warm regards,

Year 10 Student Manager Update
We started Term 3 celebrating the success of many of our Year 10 students at the awards assembly.
Students and staff gathered to celebrate the hard work, growth, and achievements of our Year 10 Homesteaders. The event was conducted with respect and pride, highlighting the effort and dedication shown by so many students this year. Congratulations to all award recipients for the two categories of the Highest Achiever and Highest Progress. Your commitment to learning and to our college community is inspiring.
Another key milestone for our Year 10s was course counselling. We had a wonderful turnout from students and families, with plenty of meaningful conversations regarding pathways, goals, and future opportunities.
The process was well supported by staff, students and their families.
We are also excited to share that VCE VM applications have now been successfully processed.
Thank you to all students, parents, and staff for their thoughtful contributions to this important step in their senior education.
As the year continues, we look forward to even more opportunities for growth, celebration, and success.
Well done, Year 10 Homesteaders.
