Principals' Weekly Update

Dear Armadale Community,
Wakakirri is on tonight!!
The buses have just left taking all the children in Year 5/6 to the Frankston Arts Centre for their performance tonight as part of the Victorian Performance show. They are incredibly excited and have worked on their performance over these last few months. A huge thank you to Jenny, Luca, Pippa and Connie for all of their efforts and dedication to the children to enable this performance to take place. The show will start at 7.15pm tonight and we look forward to seeing many of our parents there this evening. We can't wait to share how the performance went with you all next week.
Year 2's loved their learning day at ScienceWorks yesterday!
As part of National Science Week, the year 2's enjoyed their day of discovery and learning at Scienceworks. From travelling on the train to building and construction with magnetic pillows, to racing in cars, wheelchairs and against Cathy Freeman, the children said it was a great day! Thank you to Steph and Mrs Evans for all their organisation of the day.
Book Week starts next week!
The 2025 theme is Book an Adventure! 2025 is also a milestone year as the Children's Council celebrates 80 years of Children’s Book Week!
The feature artist for the year, Jess McGeachin, has brilliantly captured this adventurous spirit in his artwork, (please see below) which features a whimsical map filled with imaginary characters. Jess’ illustration invites young readers to embark on fantastical journeys, inspiring them to travel through the worlds that books open up. As an award-winning Australian picture book illustrator, Jess’ work encourages children to imagine, explore, and create their own adventures.
Miss Sozzi has organised a wonderful week to celebrate Book Week and please refer to the details in last week's newsletter. We are starting with the Book Fair previews on Friday 15 August, the Meerkat Performance on Tuesday 19 August and the Book Parade in our quadrangle on Wednesday 20 August in the morning from 9.00 -10.00am so please join us then!
Cooking with Karen
The Preps enjoyed a session in the kitchen on Monday where they surprised us all with their culinary skills. They were supported by parents to prepare and cook mini pizzas and brownies. The smells from the kitchen were amazing and the sample we enjoyed were wonderful!
Dance-a- thon - Wednesday 20 August
The PFA Fundaising SRC Comittee have joined forces to bring an afternoon of fun and activity with the Dance-a-thon. The children will come dressed in their Book Week costume and may choose to add a bit of sparkle or glitter to their costume. Sponsor forms have already been given to the children and we look forward to a lot of fun on the day. Please support the children to collect sponsors as this will help fund the shaded seating area next to the new futsal court.
Backflips against Bullying workshops -Wednesday 20 August
The children will all experience this workshop in separate groups (P-2) 11.20am -12.20pm and (3-6) 1.20pm -2.20pm with performers who use acrobatics and parkour to showcase how the children can stand up against any bullying they may encounter. The topics covered include: Bullying proofing and making friends, empowering the bystander and practical resilience tools. It will be an hour of action with great strategies for the children to use.
Year 3/4 Soccer Gala day is on tomorrow
Finally, wishing our Year 3/4 students a fabulous day tomorrow as they represent our school against other local schools in a number of soccer tournaments.
It's just another wonderful week of learning opportunities, engagement and personal growth at Armadale Primary!
