LOTE - Chinese - Term 4

Hello everyone Nihao!

Welcome to the second newsletter of Term 4 for LOTE Chinese! We're diving back into an exciting journey of language, culture, and exploration. Let's discover what the next four weeks have in store for us.

Prep:

Our Prep students are in for a treat as they explore things that represent both China and Australia. From iconic pandas, Chinese dragons, and the Great Wall for China to kangaroos, boomerangs, and the Sydney Opera House for Australia, they're taking a delightful tour of symbols that define these countries. Creativity soars as they make kites that capture the spirit of the nation and craft playdough dumplings, a delightful culinary adventure.

Junior School:

Junior School is a buzz with language and history. Our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students are learning to express themselves in Chinese, starting with the phrase "I like." They're also diving into the fascinating history of fireworks, exploring their origins and cultural significance. Basic adjectives like big, small, fast, and slow are enhancing their language skills. A lively board game, Five in a Row, adds an interactive element to their learning experience.

Middle School:

In Middle School, our Grade 3 and Grade 4 students are advancing their language skills. Days of the week become the focal point, providing practical knowledge for daily life. They continue to sharpen their chopstick skills, a vital part of Chinese dining etiquette. Fruit names add a delightful touch to their vocabulary. Chinese conversations continue to evolve as they build on expressions like "How are you?"

Senior School:

Senior School students are broadening their horizons with a global perspective. They're delving into the world of fruits, expanding their knowledge of culinary vocabulary. Creating a Chinese dragon mask adds an artistic and cultural dimension to their learning. Global citizenship is at the forefront as they explore currencies from around the world, gaining insight into the financial aspects of various countries. They're also embarking on a culinary journey, learning about different country cuisines and discovering the symbols that represent each nation.

Best Regards,
