CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Reading we are learning to understand the use of symbolism in stories.

VOCABULARY

Symbolism: literary technique that adds meaning to a short story by using an event or object as a symbol to represent something else.

Inferring: using our prior knowledge and text clues to make an inference (conclude what has happened).
